Interior brick wall in small and modern family home in Melbourne

The architectural officeA for Architecturehas this former workers' cabin in downtownMelbourne, Australia transformed into a unique living space designed to accommodate a young, growing family. The house is striking at first glanceBrick wall insideand with lots of natural light flooding the room through the large glass front.

The front of the small Australian hut with its two rooms was left unchanged, while the living space at the back was expanded and opened up to the backyard. The renovated and modernized portion of the building is an open floor plan living area that features living area, dining area and kitchen. The mix of materials chosen for the interior is a composition of concrete, brick and wood, which can withstand the marks of children's scooters and footballs without damage. At the same time, the interior impresses with its modern and calm aesthetic. The brick wall inside is certainly one of the most striking features of this cabin. A piece of white art was created on the brick wall of this modern home. The living area is flooded with light and inviting thanks to the large window front and windows on the sloping roof. A light blue armchair sets the colorful accent in the room and loosens it up.

The kitchen impresses with a black cooking island and ceiling. The color creates a dramatic feel in the interior and harmonizes with the windows and doors at the opposite end of the open-plan living area. The wooden kitchen cabinets, on the other hand, are in harmony with the wooden ceiling above the living area and create a uniform overall picture. Next to the kitchen there is a hallway that connects the new extension with the original bedrooms. Brick wall inside covers the wall in the hallway too.The white painted bricksdecorate the entire wall of the hallway and create a contrast to the spacious wooden cupboard. In the modern bathroom, simple white walls and tiles were combined with black floor tiles. A floating sink in white fits perfectly into the simple but elegant black and white bathroom interior. Stairs lead from the hallway to the upper floor of the house. There is a small home office with a desk made of light wood, a black chair and open, black shelves.
