Aperitif with Prosecco: Welcome the New Year 2023 with these irresistible and simple cocktails

We all know that Prosecco is a delicious drink on its own, but did you know that the famous northern Italian sparkling wine is also an excellent ingredient in cocktails? Whether you want to impress your friends at a New Year's Eve party or spend an evening at home with a loved one, here are some great Prosecco aperitif suggestions that you can make yourself.

Aperitif mit Prosecco – Aperol Spritz

With its bright orange appearance and aromatic citrus flavor, the famous Italian Aperol Spritz is one of the best prosecco-based cocktails you can enjoy on a sunny winter afternoon. A single sip is enough to transport you to an enchanting Venice piazza, where you can watch the gondolas glide over the canals with your cocktail in hand.

What is Aperol Spritz?? Aperol Spritz is one of the most popular aperitifs in Northern Italy, consisting primarily of just two ingredients: Aperol and Prosecco. Aperol is a classic Italian bitter liqueur that is often referred to as Campari's less alcoholic little brother. It is made from an infusion of herbs and roots such as orange and rhubarb.

Ingredients for Aperol Spritz:

  • Aperol
  • Prosecco
  • Soda
  • Orange slice
  • Plenty of ice cream

How to make an Aperol Spritz: Mix 3 parts Prosecco with 2 parts Aperol and garnish with a splash of soda and a slice of orange over ice. Luckily, the Aperol Spritz recipe isn't difficult to master.

You can also enjoy the cocktail in a warm version.

Hot Aperol – The perfect winter version of the classic cocktail

At Christmas markets across Europe, the famous cocktail is prepared in a wintery way. Here's how to make it at home.

Ingredients for Hot Aperol:

  • 45 ml Aperol
  • 150 ml white wine
  • 75 ml apple juice
  • 15 ml Passion fruit syrup or Mango

How to make a Hot Aperol:

  1. Heat all the ingredients in a saucepan, but do not let them boil.
  2. Serve it in a glass with a lemon wedge.

Bellini – The better Mimosa

A refreshing Italian aperitif with Prosecco that can also be enjoyed with breakfast - what's not to love about a Bellini?

Bellini ingredients:

  • Prosecco
  • Pfirsichpüree

How to make a Bellini: Pour about 1/3 of the peach puree into your glass, pour the rest with Prosecco and the Bellini is ready.

The original Bellini recipe uses pureed white peaches. However, since these are seasonal, yellow peaches or peach nectar are often used instead. If you want to make the puree yourself, you will need to peel several peaches, cut them into wedges and place them in a food processor along with a few teaspoons of sugar.

Bellini Variations: Although many people prefer to stick to the original peach bellini recipe, you can also make other variationsPrepare according to your personal taste, e.g. a strawberry Bellini or a raspberry Bellini – just substitute the puree you use.

Tip – What is the difference between a Bellini and a Mimosa? A mimosa is a mix of champagne and freshly squeezed orange juice. The problem with drinking a mimosa outside is that most mimosas substitute champagne in favor of a cheaper sparkling wine, and some don't even use fresh orange juice. Our opinion: If you're going out, you're better off opting for a Bellini where you have the chance to get prosecco and fresh fruit, as peach puree is less common to find in cheap juice boxes.

Elderflower Gin Fizz Cocktail with Lemon and Lime

Gin and Prosecco Aperitif – A fun twist on the classic gin and tonic to impress your friends. The delicate, floral flavor of elderflower is quite subtle, so you should use a good quality gin and prosecco for this cocktail.

Which gin should you use for a gin fizz?? We recommend Tanqueray or Bombay Sapphire, in that order. Both are good, high-quality all-rounders that can easily highlight the delicate taste of elderflower.

Ingredients for Elderflower Gin Fizz:

  • 50 ml Gin
  • 30 ml elderflower liqueur
  • 15 ml lemon juice
  • Prosecco
  • Lemon & lime slices
  • Mint leaves

How to make an Elderflower Gin Fizz:Mix the gin and elderflower liqueur in a shaker with ice, pour into a glass and top with Prosecco. Garnish with the lemon, lime and mint.

Sgroppino – aperitif with Prosecco and lemon sorbet
