Vegetable platter with dip – recipe designed with hummus as a lion
If you are looking for quick dips, then this is a good option because you can use ready-made hummus from the supermarket. Of course you can do that tooMake your own hummusand create the complete vegetable platter with dip for children. The shape of the lion will particularly appeal to the little bullies.
- 6 large carrots
- 2 yellow peppers
- 1 root Paprika
- 1 small yam bean
- 280 g Hummus
- 3 large black olives
- 8 fresh leaves of chives
Wash and peel the carrots and cut them into thin sticks with a pointed end. Repeat the same with the yellow pepper and the yam bean, but set aside a larger piece for the lion's face. Place a bowl in the middle of a large plate and fill it with the hummus (or place the hummus and packaging on the plate).
Distribute the vegetable sticks around it in about three layers, starting with the longer ones and arranging the short yam bean sticks last. Cut a triangular or heart-shaped piece out of the red pepper for the nose. First cut two slices from the remaining piece of yambean and then use a cookie cutter to cut two circles of the same size and two rings for the eyes from the olives. You also need two thin strips from an olive for the snapdragon.
You then arrange all of these elements on the vegetable dip for children and finally add the chives for the whiskers. You can also shorten these slightly if necessary. You can also prepare the vegetable platter with dip for children in advance and store it in the refrigerator covered with cling film.
Rainbow vegetable platter with dips
Instead of serving vegetable sticks with dip for children, you can also make skewers like this. The interesting thing here is the color order. Because the colors gradually merge into one another, the vegetable skewers are reminiscent of rainbows and are therefore pleasing to children's eyes. You can use any vegetables. Only the colors should be correct and look like this:
- Blue, violet or indigo, such as olives, purple carrots, purple cauliflower, purple peppers
- Green, such as broccoli, green peppers, zucchini, cucumber, snow peas
- Gelb, such as yellow peppers, yellow cherry tomatoes, yellow pumpkin, yellow carrots
- Orange, like orange cherry tomatoes, orange peppers, carrots
- Rot, like any red tomatoes, peppers
Arrange the vegetables in the same order and try to use different vegetables for each color. For example, if you took yellow peppers, combine them as much as possiblenotwith orange and yellow peppers, but also with carrots and red tomatoes, for example.
Also serve the skewers with a suitable dip for children. Hummus like the example above or one of the variants below is suitable.
