Ingredients for 6-7 glasses:

  • 1 kilogram of cherries
  • 500 grams of preserving sugar (2:1)
  • 5 grams of citric acid
  • 1 pack of vanilla sugar (optional)

Preparation:

  • Pit the cherries and cut them in half.
  • Mix with the preserving sugar, citric acid and vanilla sugar in a large saucepan and let sit in the refrigerator for 2 hours.
  • Bring the mixture to a boil over medium heat and cook, stirring occasionally, for 6-7 minutes.
  • Remove from heat and stir well.
  • Pour the still hot mixture into sterilized jars, close and place on the lid for 20-30 minutes.

Cook cherry jam without preserving sugar

Some great alternatives that you could use as a substitute for preserving sugar include granulated sugar, citric acid, apple pectin, agar-agar or chia seeds. For our cherry jam recipe you need granulated sugar.

Ingredients for 7-8 glasses:

  • 1.5 cherries
  • 700 grams of granulated sugar
  • 20 ml lemon juice, freshly squeezed
  • The peel of 2 organic apples

Preparation:

  • Pit the cherries and place them in a large pot.
  • Add apple peel, lemon juice and sugar and stir well. Let the mixture steep in the refrigerator for 1-2 hours.
  • Place the mixture over medium heat, reduce the heat and simmer for 40-45 minutes until it is still liquid but slightly gelled.
  • Remove the apple peels and pour the cherry jam into sterilized jars.
  • Close tightly and place on the lid for 20 minutes.
  • And your cherry jam is ready without preserving sugar.

Gooseberry and cherry jam recipe

  • 600 grams of cherries, pitted
  • 600 grams of gooseberries, cleaned
  • 500 grams of preserving sugar (2:1)
  • 1 pack vanilla sugar or 1 tbsp vanilla extract

Preparation:

  • Puree the gooseberries finely with the hand blender.
  • Mix the cherries, pureed gooseberries, vanilla sugar and preserving sugar in a large pot and let sit for 2 hours.
  • Bring the mixture to a boil and cook, stirring occasionally, for 5-6 minutes.
  • Pour the gooseberry-cherry jam into the prepared jars, close and leave to stand upside down for 30 minutes.

  • Cover and let the mixture steep in the refrigerator for 2-3 hours.
  • Bring to the boil and simmer for 6-8 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  • Finally add the Amaretto, stir and pour into the prepared glasses.

Cook healthy cherry jam without sugar
