Preheat the oven to 200 degrees. Prepare a round baking pan.

  • Heat the olive oil in a pan and sauté the onion until translucent.
  • If you are using spinach, add it for a short time and then allow any excess liquid to drain off. You can also press the spinach in a clean kitchen towel. Set the spinach aside until it cools.
  • Mix the spinach (if using) with both cheeses and season with pepper.
  • Melt the butter in a small saucepan over low heat.
  • Stir in the yogurt and milk.
  • Season the milk mixture with salt.
  • Now spread one or two sheets of the dough in front of you.
  • Spread it with the yogurt.
  • Spread cheese mixture along one of the edges of the dough. The formed sausage should be about 5 cm thick.
  • Now roll the dough, enclosing the cheese mixture.
  • Place the roll along the edge of the baking pan.
  • Then form the next roll and place it directly next to the previous one in the baking pan.
  • Continue like this, gradually spiraling the rolls inwards so that you end up with a large scroll.
Tip: You can also work from the inside out if you prefer.
  • Roughly break the egg and brush it onto the top of the burek.
  • Sprinkle with sesame seeds and optionally with black cumin seeds.
  • Bake the snack for the mulled wine party for 30 to 35 minutes until golden brown.
  • Allow the burek to cool slightly before cutting and serving so that the filling can set a little and not fall apart. The snack also tastes good at room temperature.

Fortunately, the burek can be prepared in advance and then baked on the day of the party. To do this, however, it must be stored correctly. If you prepare it the night before, it can just stay in the fridge.

You should have had it for a few daysbefore the planned partyIf you want to prepare it, you can simply freeze it raw. Then you can put it straight from the freezer into the preheated oven, but you will need to increase the baking time to 40 to 45 minutes.

In both cases, brush it with the egg before baking. The same goes for the seeds.
