The BMW X7 iPerformance – A luxury SUV with a petrol hybrid drive

All BMW fans have waited a long time and the time has come: the Munich-based company has presented its new XXL SUV. With the The Concept X7 iPerformance impresses with six seats, two screens, a panoramic roof and a hybrid petrol engine. The first pre-series models are already going into production at the BMW plant in Spartanburg in the USA. The new model was unveiled at the 2017 Frankfurt Motor Show as the automaker's first luxury SUV, designed to impress customers in the luxury market segment. The size of the car is similar to no otherBMW model. The body is 5.20 meters long, which is 31 centimeters longer than the X5. This means the car outperforms cars like Range Rover and Mercedes GLS. The wheelbase is 3.10 meters and the length of the luxury SUV is 2.20 meters including exterior mirrors.

The suffix iPerformance stands for a hybrid drive. However, you will have to wait a little longer for the hybrid. The engine for the new model was to have a revised 4.4-liter biturbo V8 with 462 hp.

The interior of the XXL SUV is impressive, but by no means exaggerated. The six seats are arranged in three rows, with the four in the first two rows fixed as individual seats. These are in fact slim lounge chairs that ensure optimal comfort. In the production version, the model will still be available as a seven-seater.

Behind the two seats in the first row, the interior should offer two 12.3 inch displays, which are operated via a round knob. Most functions in the car can be controlled by it or by voice. The laser light effects in the panoramic roof, the gold pigmentation of the leather seats and the crystal glass inserts in the steering wheel are probably only reserved for the study. But the fact is that the automaker is taking a big step towards the luxury SUV market segment with the new X7.
