The seat of the so-called “Rainbow” chair is coated with a dichroic filter. It uses the effect of interference and filters the sunlight depending on the color. The end result is an exciting color gradient that constantly changes depending on the viewing angle. In this way, the piece of furniture creates a fascinating play of light and shadow and can be displayed both indoors and outdoors.

The designer chair consists of a simple tubular steel frame and a seat with back and armrest cut out of polycarbonate panels, which is attached to the structure using eyelets.The exact manufacturing processyou can watch it in the video below. The plastic is also specially coated with a dichroic filter. It reflects sunlight depending on the wavelength - certain wavelengths are transmitted, others are reflected. The filters are primarily used in video technology - there they split the incident light into the red-green-blue color space. Such an interference filter with a wide pass range creates exciting lighting effects not only on the seat itself, but also on the shadow it casts.
