Make a mini flower pot for Easter out of craft clay

The Easter bunny is one of the motifs that cannot be missing from Easter decorations. If you also have the same opinion, then you can make a mini clay flower pot for a cactus or succulent plant yourself. It is not at all complicated to recreate and is also suitable as oneinteresting gift idea for Easter. The necessary materials are listed here:

  • air dryer Ton
  • Cardboard roll
  • Rolling out rod
  • Hole cutter or wide straw
  • craft knife
  • sandpaper
  • Paint brush
  • Color

Directions:

1. Roll out the clay evenly until you have a piece large enough to wrap around the cardboard tube with a little excess.

2. Draw the design with a pencil or the end of the brush. Then cut out the design.

3. Use some water to smooth the surface, then engrave the nose and mouth details.

4. Roll out another piece of craft clay and use the cardboard roll again to shape the bottom of the flower pot by cutting out the round end.

5. Wrap the top of the bunny planter around the base. Use water to bind the edges together. At this point you will also need to support the ears so that they do not bend and tear off. Take your time and work carefully, gluing only a small section at a time. Cut off the excess clay and join the two edges of the planter together.

6. Use the eye hole cutter - press and twist into the clay to create a perfect circle under each ear. Now let the clay dry overnight in a warm place. To support the ears, you can make a small structure using popsicle sticks and rubber bands.

7. Once the clay is dry, sand down any small imperfections and paint the details on the nose and ears. Then all that's left is to plant a cactus or succulent in the homemade flower pot for Easter and the cute decoration is ready.

Make your own bunny flower pots from plastic bottles

Do you also like upcycling projects? The next idea requires large plastic bottles, which you can first cut out in a bunny shape, then paint and plant with your favorite flowers. Simple, yet original. Now we'll show you how it works! First collect the following materials:

  • 2 liter PET bottles
  • Scissors
  • Acrylic paints
  • Paint brush
  • felt-tip pens
  • Drill (or other tool for holes)
  • Potting soil
  • Flowers to plant

Directions:

1. Using a felt-tip pen, trace the rabbit's head and ears onto the plastic bottle. Ideally, the center of the face should be between two of the nubs at the bottom of the bottle, so that the nubs look like legs. To make it easier, you can draw a template on a piece of paper and use it.

2. Then cut out the bunny flower pot with scissors. Paint the planter with acrylic paint of your choice. You may want to apply two or three coats of paint to get really good coverage. Allow the paint to dry thoroughly between each coat.

3. Once the final layer of paint has dried, it's time to give the bunny a face. First draw the face lightly with a pencil and then trace it with the felt-tip pens.

4. You should now make holes in the bottom of your planter for drainage. The easiest way to do this is with a drill, but you can also use a hammer and a nail or another tool. Make four to five holes, for example one hole in each of the studs at the bottom of the bottle.

5. Then fill your flower pots with potting soil and plant flowers and plants of your choice.

Make a flower pot for Easter using the napkin technique

Clay pots are also an excellent idea for your houseplants and succulents. To create a more spring atmosphere at home, you can decorate them to match Easter. This is where the decoupage technique comes in as a wonderful idea. You can read more about the method in our article “Napkin technique for Easter – decoration ideas & decoupage techniques with and without glue“, where you will find lots of tips and nice ideas.

With this technique, any simple pot can be transformed into something very special. Here you will find an example of a flower pot with a cherry blossom pattern in which every green plant will be shown to its best advantage. You will need the following materials for this project:

  • Clay pots with saucers
  • white acrylic paint
  • Foam brush
  • Paper napkins with spring or Easter motifs
  • Mod Podge or other decoupage glue

Directions:

1. Paint a clay pot and its saucer with white paint. Depending on the material, you will need three to four coats of paint to completely cover the pot. Allow the paint to dry between coats.

2. Separate the layers of a napkin (usually there are three layers). You only need the printed layer.

3. Tear the napkin into sections. You can also cut them if you wish. Then put some napkin glue on the pot where you want to attach the torn napkin. Place the napkin on top and stick it to the pot with a little more glue. Be careful not to tear the thin paper.

4. Work in sections and wait a bit for the glue to dry before continuing. Continue working around the pot until you get a pattern you like.

5. Allow the glue to dry completely and then apply another coat of decoupage glue to seal everything well. Then all that remains is to plant the pot and find a nice spot in the house for it.

DIY flower pots from old cans

There are so many things in the home that can be wonderfully converted into planters. This also includesthe old tin cans. With a little paint and a few colorful napkins with matching motifs, you can make a great flower pot for Easter. This method also works well with old jars. However, you must note that, unlike tin cans, the glasses cannot be drilled through. That's why you should only use plants that don't need drainage.

And these are the necessary materials for the cute flower pots made from tin cans:

  • empty tin cans of different sizes
  • white acrylic paint
  • normal brush and sponge brush
  • Paper napkins with Easter motifs
  • Napkin glue
  • Drill (optional)
  • Decoration of your choice, e.g. E.g. ribbons, stickers, etc.

Directions:

1. Remove all stickers from your cans and rinse well with water and dish soap.

2. Paint the tin cans in any color, although white is the best option to show off the motifs. Apply as many coats as necessary. Allow the paint to dry.

3. Separate the layers of the napkins and cut out the designs. Coat the cans with napkin glue and attach the motifs to the desired locations. Seal with a second layer of glue and allow to dry thoroughly. If desired, decorate the pots further with bows and stickers.

4. If the plants being placed in the pots require drainage, drill 3-4 holes in the bottom of each can. Fill the cans with potting soil and plant as desired.

Another way to make a simple clay pot more interesting would be to paint it and transform it into a cute Easter motif with a few decorative elements. Here you will find a really cute idea to decorate the flower pot like a blue Easter chick. This is needed:

  • clay pot
  • blue acrylic paint
  • orange craft paper
  • blue feathers
  • black pen
  • Craft glue
  • Scissors
  • Paint brush

Directions:

1. Paint the inside of the pot all around, bottom and top with 2-3 coats of blue acrylic paint (or other paint of your choice). Allow the paint to dry.

2. Cut out a small orange beak from the construction paper. The easiest way to do this is to cut out a diamond shape and fold it in half. Glue the beak to the flowerpot with the fold so that it is open and has a 3D effect.

3. Using a black pen, draw the eyes on the chick. Then glue the blue feathers onto the flower pot - some right on the edge and one on each side to look like wings.

4. When finished, you can fill the pot with potting soil and plant a plant such as a succulent in it.

DIY moss flower pot for Easter

You can further beautify old or plain pots by covering them with another material. So what do you think about a green moss pot? Whether real or artificial, the moss will showcase any flowering plant. If you would like to make a flower pot like this for Easter, you will need the following materials:

  • old flower pot
  • Moosmatte
  • Spray adhesive
  • Scissors

Directions:

1. Measure the moss for the DIY plant pot by laying the pot on its side and adding 4-5 cm more at the top and bottom. If you want to be really precise, you can make a curved shape by tracing a rolling pot on the back of the moss and cutting out that shape.

2. Spray the pot with spray adhesive and roll the pot over the back of the moss mat to ensure the moss sticks. Cut off any excess moss with scissors. You can also spray the inside and bottom of the pot with glue to be able to wrap the moss from top to bottom. That's it! Plant the pot, put it in a beautiful saucer and decorate the apartment.
