Hairbands lietotal im Trendand are increasingly adorning women's hair. If you spontaneously fancy a new hair accessory, you can also make a hair band yourself! And you don't necessarily have to be able to sew to do this. There are other great options too. We'll show you how to make your own hairband without sewing. You'll definitely have a lot of fun and want to make new ones again and again!
Make your own hairband without sewing from a T-shirt
If you still have an old T-shirt lying around that you no longer wear but somehow don't want to throw away, you can now use it. You can quickly and easily make your own hairband without sewing. The material should be a little elastic. It works that simply:
Make your own hairband – instructions
Cut narrow strips out of the T-shirt and then intertwine them together as shown in the picture instructions above. Finally, if you pull on the ends, you will create a nice, tight knot. Then cut out another rectangular piece of the shirt and glue the ends of the strips to the longer sides. Then take the shorter sides and roll them inwards. Glue the strip together in the same way and your hair band is ready and you can have a beautiful oneDesign summer hairstyle.
You can also make such a turban hair band from an elastic T-shirt or from a skirt, shirt, etc. Lay the garment flat in front of you and use sharp scissors to cut a strip of fabric horizontally to the bottom hem. You can choose the width according to your taste (10 to 15 cm should be enough). Then cut off the hem from the resulting loop.
Now place the loop like a figure eight and then twist it in again. You will receive two loops that you place on top of each other. Now the turban hair band is ready and you can use itplace around the head. The knot points upwards.
Make your own hairbands out of silk and wire
If you want to make this hairband yourself without sewing, you will need glue and wire. The result is apretty hair accessoriesin a retro look, which is also achieved, among other things, by the silk fabric. But you can also use other fabric. This is how the hairband DIY is done:
- Fabric strips (in the example 90 x 10 cm)
- Textile adhesives
- wire
- iron
- Tape measure or ruler
- Scissors
First, iron the strip of fabric and place it in front of you so that the left side (the unsightly one) faces upwards. Using the iron, fold the shorter sides over (approx. 2 cm). Then repeat this with the long sides and also with 2 cm. Now mark the middle of the width on one of the two short sides and fold the corners to this point so that the ribbon has a point. To ensure that this works well, use the iron again. Repeat with the other side too.
Now fold the band completely horizontally using the iron. Place the wire on the longest side of the ribbon to determine the required length and trim with an additional 2cm. Bend 1 cm on each side once to create a loop. This will prevent the pointed ends of the wire from coming through the fabric after a while.
Glue one of the two ends of the band closed, insert the wire into the band through the other opening and also close this side with the textile glue. Once the glue has dried, you can try the hair band. If you make a hair band like this yourself using wire without sewing, it will help you get it into shape and it will fit better.
Hairbands with and without flowers
Measure the circumference of your head and think about how wide you would like the band to be (almost 13 cm in the example). Then double the desired width because you will be laying the fabric twice. Now cut out a piece of elastic fabric with these dimensions. Place the strip in front of you with the right side down and fold the two long sides inwards towards the middle. Then form a loop by placing the two ends together. They should overlap each other by about 2 cm. Glue the ends together.
Now you need a smaller strip (in the example measuring 2 x 7.5 cm). Fold this in the same way as the large strip of fabric. Then place it on the front of the headband around the band and glue the ends together. This loop should compress the hair band. If necessary, you can shorten the small loop a little. If you would like to make a flower hairband yourself without sewing, you can also glue a few flowers made of any material onto the band (e.g. large sequins, felt or artificial flowers).
A notice:The example is forBaby hairbandsthought and therefore a little looser. For larger children and adults, the band can also be made slightly tighter by simply subtracting an inch or two from the head circumference.
