Rolex Submariner “No Date” 114060 mit Chromalight

The Rolex Submariner was originally introduced in 1953. It was the first watch that was waterproof to a depth of 100 m. Furthermore, it was precisely this model that made the design and style of this watch so popular. All of these are reasons why the Rolex Submariner is the most recognized and imitated diving watch in the world. The most popular versions are without a doubt those made of steel. If you trace the different models back in time, you can see that although Rolex has made various improvements to the design, they still remain true to the original design.

One of the simplest models is one of the latest generation of Submariners, the 114060, also called the Rolex Submariner “No Date”.

The advantage is that the impressive case of the Rolex Submariner “No Date” with its diameter of 40 mm is neither too small nor too large. It is made of stainless steel, which has improved resistance to rust and chemical substances. This is particularly advantageous because it is primarily intended for divers and it therefore retains its great appearance for a long time despite the salt content in the seas, as it prevents the case from becoming dull and dull. The typical Rolex polishing of the case also ensures a simple and sophisticated look.

The patented, triple sealing system Triplock winding crown ensures that the Rolex Submariner “No Date” is waterproof. This is screwed so tightly to the case that, according to Rolex, the watch is as tight and impermeable to water as a submarine hatch. In this way theClassic watchWaterproof up to 300 meters, instead of the original 100 meters.

This model has a bezel with a 60-minute rotating disc and, like the number disc, is made of black Cerachrom.

The Cerachrom, which is Rolex's proprietary form of ceramic, is much more durable. Not only is it considered completely resistant to rust and fading, but it is also scratch-resistant. The black ceramic bezel of the Rolex Submariner “No Date”, which is also available in green and blue, is shinier than aluminum and the engraved numerals also have a thin layer of platinum. In contrast to the other models, the luminous luminous material was not used on the entire bezel. Only the 12 o'clock marker was chosen instead, creating a classic style.

The clockwork

The Submariner “No Date” movement with automatic caliber 3130 is housed in, as already mentioned, a completely waterproof case. It has a COSC-certified chronometer and the patented blue PARACHROM Breguet hairspring. This spiral makes the watch even more precise as it can withstand influences such as magnetism, different temperature differences and shocks. The movement was entirely made by Rolex.

The dial

The classic, black and white dial is rather simple and offers excellent symmetry, which guarantees better contrast and perfect readability. This will especially please those who prefer uncomplicated designs. The date display is also missing. This is where the name “No Date” comes from.

In order to be able to read the time even in the dark, there is a luminous material on the minute markers and the hands, which is called Chromalight and is said to last longer than other luminous materials and has a blue nuance. This replaces the previous green color and is said to look whiter and clearer in daylight. The different designs of the minute and hour hands also contribute to better readability.

The dial also shows that attention to detail has been paid. It is also a work by Rolex itself. The “Rolex” inscription is particularly elegant, which is hardly just for attractiveness and decoration, but also as a protection against the mass counterfeits that the brand has had to combat for decades.
