Braiding hair – 11 original braided hairstyles with instructions

Braided hairstyles are the latest hit for summer and we are totally thrilled. We have already presented you with several braiding techniques, but here are 11 creative hair braiding ideas that take the classic braid and make it more original. Some of these looks are even inspired by the stars on the red carpet.

1. Elegant updo

This elegant oneHochsteckfrionwas inspired by Cate Blanchett. It consists of two side braids, a bun and a smoothly combed back pony. The hairstyle is done quickly and easily. Try it!

Braid side braids

Start by creating a '60s-style quiff with a curling iron. Form a roll and temporarily pin this strand. Repeat the same thing again without the curling iron with the section behind the roller, only this time you pick up a little more hair. Braid a braid on each side of the loose hair, which meets at the back above the neck and is tied into a ponytail.

Comb the bangs back

Now it's time to incorporate the two quiffs into the hairstyle. Comb them straight and fix with hairspray. The thick strand is placed back over the head and then wrapped once around the hair tie, after which you also wrap itPick up ponytailand form a bun. Secure with clips and hairspray.

The finished hairstyle

Take your time when doing your hair so that everything is perfect. Use mirrors to get a good view of the sides of your head. The special thing about this hairstyle is that it offers interesting accents from every angle. And the best thing is that the hairstyle is perfect for absolutely any occasion.

2. A small herringbone braid as an accent

This look was inspired by one of Ciara's looks. A small fish braid was hidden in her blonde ombre mane. This is very easy to style. Create a herringbone braid with a small section of hair, then pull it slightly apart at the sides to loosen it a little and you're done.

3. Side braid

Side braids can look glamorous too! This look was inspired by Amanda Seyfried's messy yet chic side braid. First, curl your hair and sweep it back to create a romantic volume. Take your hair to the side and braid it curly. Tie an elastic band and pull it apart to give the braid a messy look. Voila!

4. Updo with side braid

Instead of a simple bun, why not add a few braids to the updo? This gorgeous look was inspired by Jessica Alba's hairstyle. Divide the hair into two ponytails – one at the top of the head and one at the back. Pull out a piece of the top ponytail and braid it. Braid the bottom ponytail and tie it into a bun. Tease the rest of the top ponytail, comb it back, create volume and pin. Wrap the herringbone braid around the bun and secure with clips.

5. Braid waterfall hairstyle

Start with a traditional French side braid from the crown and along the hairline. After you have braided over 3 times, start to drop strands that you normally need to connect into the braid.

6. Peasant wreath braid

This would also be a nice idea for a dirndl dress, but Scarlett Johansson also loves the peasant wreath braid. Take a section of hair on one side of the head and start braiding from the inside out (or top to bottom). It will be a bit unusual, but you'll get there!

7. Fauxhawk Braid Hairstyle

This is definitely the wildest hairstyle on our list and is sure to make a statement. Make a quiff and pin it in the middle of the head. Start braiding directly behind the quiff. Instead of adding strands to the braid from above, you can add them from below. Use a comb to pull out strands from each section to imitate the look of a mohawk hairstyle.

8. Herringbone braid ponytail

This braided hairstyle was inspired by Blake Lively. But if your hair length is not that long, you can easily change it. Tie hair in a medium to high ponytail. Braid herringbone braid all the way to the end. Pull apart to create a textured look. Pull strands of hair out of the ponytail to hide the elastic.

9. Braid a pair of dreadlocks

Gwen Stefani knows how to rock a pair of cornrows. Part the hair down the middle. Start braiding the French braid from the inside out on one side and finish all the way to the end. Curl the end into a loose knot and pin in place. Repeat on the other side and you're done.

10. Three braids braided in one

Braid three braids in one! It looks even cooler after applyingHaarkreideaka Hair Chalk. The colors are very vibrant and suit almost every hair color. For the braid, make three herringbone braids and then braid them together. Complete!

11. French braid braided from below, with a bun

Last but not least, the French braid from the bottom! We love January Jones' look. It looks like a simple topknot from the front but is more interesting at the back. Keep your head facing down and braid a traditional French braid from the nape of your neck to the back of your head. Tie a bun at the top and you're done!
