Kimono jackets have been trendy since last summer. This light and airy garment is very comfortable and can perfectly complete a simple summer outfit. Whether short, long, medium length, with fringes, made of chiffon or silk, with a floral or geometric pattern, there is a suitable design on the market to suit every taste. Today we'll show you how to sew a kimono jacket yourself in 30 minutes. This project requires only basic sewing skills. You can choose the pattern, color and fabric yourself and also keep an eye on the price.
Materials:
– light fabric – 100 x 140 centimeters (silk or chiffon)
Tools:
– The stick needle
– Sewing machine
– Tailor’s chalk
– Fabric scissors
– Lineal
Directions:
1. Fold the fabric in half. The left side of the fabric facing outwards.
2. Measure 25 centimeters downwards and 15 centimeters inwards and mark with tailor's chalk.
3. Both marks should meet at a point and form an L shape. Repeat on the other side.
4. Pin along the marking with pins and cut off the excess. Then the outer seams and sleeves are sewn together.
5. Now the two layers are on top of each other. Use the ruler to determine the center of the rectangle, draw a line from top to bottom and cut. Make sure that only the future front of the kimono should be cut open.
6. Fold over the edges for hemming and secure with pins. Sew about 2 centimeters of hem around the edges.
It can be combined with almost any outfit - with denim shorts and a t-shirt or a pencil skirt and a crop top. For more pizzazz, you can also sew a fringed border on the bottom hem.
