Architecture studio Malka Architecture has taken another step towards eco-friendly architecture by designing a house in the rock. The project is located in Point Mugu, California, where the porosities of the rocks were to be transformed into an innovative house. In a house like this you can live sustainably in the rock and reach the optimal temperature without heating and ventilation.
Live sustainably in a house in the rock
The project benefits from the existing topography of the site and is built almost exclusively from regional materials. As a result of the ecological project is createda sustainable housewith no negative impact on the environment and immersion in the rocks, their flora and temperature changes. The design of the house embodies a return to the origins of architecture, which has a strong connection with the natural elements.
Environmentally friendly living in the rock
For the construction of the house, materials that can be found locally should be used. The project's lightweight architecture is made of a special concrete that has a low cement content, reducing CO2 emissions and the environmental footprint by approximately 28 times.
Interior design inConnectionwith nature
The house is built with only a few partition walls and the rock determines the interior design. The uninterrupted mountain with the associated flora extends into every room and creates a natural feeling in the interior. The panoramic windows offer an enchanting view of the ocean and let the light and sunshine into the house.
