Round wooden house with open rooms and endless possibilities

A limited room turns into a round wooden house and an extraordinary but modern home that you can install almost anywhere. The design by Beatrice Bonzanigo was created as a project in the heart of the district of Brera, in Milan. During the Milan Design Week 2019, which took place from April 9th to 14th, the Casa Ojalá / Inhabiting The Infinite Choice was presented. The construction project is patented by the architect Beatrice Bonzanigo from IB Studio as a “residential building with high flexibility”. Casa Ojalá is organized by Post Design Gallery / Memphis together with the Memphis + Post Design exhibition. It also offers a selection of 5 possible rooms as living rooms. Visitors can see the fabric and the materials as a 1:10 scale model. Thus, the designers introduce the guests to the world of infinite selection, which such a round wooden house offers for the first time.

Round wooden house for every environment

"Ojalá" (O-Ha-Lá, from the old Spanish Oxalá, Arabic Wašāʾa llāh) is a word that the concept of infinite possibilities, hopes of emptiness and absence, intuition, a not yet open door key, a new, summarized field of existence, a telescope that brings together and moves a space with various options and thus a desire that is in fulfillment goes.

So this is a small, 27 m² round wooden house with several interior facilities. These work synchronously without changing the original structure and shape. Casa Ojalá develops from a manual mechanical system of ropes, straps and cranks, which brings the guest in memory of a sailboat to a sailboat.

Wood and fabrics also remind you of the traditions of the place where such a round wooden house would stand, and underline its uniqueness and aesthetic adaptability. At the same time, however, they remain a formally recognizable, marketable object worldwide.

Casa Ojalá # 1 also has two bedrooms, one with a double bed and one with a single bed. Furthermore, there is a bathroom, a terrace, a kitchenette and a living room that actually flow continuously. Thus, they transform into a large outdoor area with a platform, a round wooden house without a roof or even without a floor.

The whole thing offers a room where you can play with, as well as a round wooden house without walls. With its different, fragrant and tangible layers of materials, mark the boundary between interior and outer space with a surprising effect.

Sustainable concept for round wooden house

The flexibility of the room is made possible by the innovative solution of sliding walls with wooden cladding and fabric. These are rolled up on posts that are arranged on the edge of the circumference and in the middle of the structure. There are about twenty options to increase the flexibility of Casa Ojalá and make it a fully adjustable product.

Casa Ojalá leaves a really good impression with the guests. The surprise and simplicity with which it changes create a unique experience of a new and noticeable life, a new discovery in the world of static architecture. The limited space with which we usually have to count on it turns into an infinite home.

The house is small, you can also disassemble and transport without it becoming bulky. The architectural boundaries of forced perspective, filtered light, controlled air and untouchable roofs are broken, but all comfort and all functions of a house are guaranteed. The home is therefore suitable for a surprise, the game, the circus, the theater and in all types of adventurous experiences. The landscape and the surrounding area only serve as a facade.

Open design for more freedom

As soon as the house is assembled, it is based on its manual mechanical system. The construction does not require external support, neither human nor technologically. It also has a system for collecting rainwater and can be equipped with photovoltaic modules. It has an additional small sewage pit that consists of a selection of environmentally conscious and sustainable fabrics as well as local wood.

The demand for minimal and environmentally friendly solutions has risen sharply in recent years worldwide. Today's market also offers a variety of small architectural solutions for individuals who are looking for something else. Casa Ojalá not only offers this as a possible variant. Its extensive flexibility in the smallest space, which you can perceive as infinite and lively, is the key that is still missing on the world market.

Initially, it was a by -product for luxury hotels that search for new solutions for a travel experience and avoid construction sites. Casa Ojalá can also be offered private customers with all kinds, vineyards, open landscape, mountains, lagoons, forests, meadows, sand dunes, infinite or undeveloped land.
