Grilles for windows as a decorative facade design

A modern house was designed and recently built by Aamer Architects for a young family in Singapore. It is located in a densely populated area of the city, right next to the bus stop on a main street. The traffic and the people constantly walking past demand a special facade design in terms of reasonable privacy. Modern Corten steel grilles for windows protect the private sphere and ensure an airy, decorative appearance.

Window grilles have long been known as sensible privacy protection, but are considered old-fashioned and are relatively rarely used in modern onesFacade designsof private houses. Interpreted in a modern way and in combination with current building materials such as concrete, steel and glass, the Aamer architects have implemented them well in the modern house facade.

The house has a living area of 448 square meters and has a beautiful garden with a pool. The common rooms are located on the ground floor and can be easily opened to the outside through floor-to-ceiling patio doors. On the upper floor and attic are the private rooms, which are completely secured by the Corten steel grille.

The playful architecture, which consists of a single structure but achieves a different perception, makes a special impression. The original use of materials creates an optical illusion and the house appears to consist of several offset elements.

The house is separated from the street by a high concrete fence, which is not at all noticeable when viewed from the garden due to the lush greenery of exotic plants.
