Anyone who has visited the island of Santorini at least once falls in love with the beautiful sunsets and blue sea. The architecture on the popular Greek island amazes just as many people, and not just because of its bright white color. Many people live in caves on Santorini! The caves are mainly converted into tourist accommodation and holiday homes, offering an unforgettable experience. The architects from Kapsimalis Architects have converted two adjacent caves in Firostefani and turned them into modern living caves. Colored lighting effects add playful, futuristic accents to the interior, and the modern swimming pools offer space to relax with wonderful views.
The two caves are located next to each other and are only separated by a wall. They share a common terrace where the pools are located. This can be divided into two separate outdoor areas using an opaque sliding door. Tothe right holiday homethe architects designed an extension that is located in front of the facade. The annex looks like a white box and has a small pool and seating area. On the bottom of the pool you can see a small window that makes the indoor ceiling very special and offers a view from the pool into the room.
Both holiday homes benefit from and are adapted to the existing shapes in the caves. Nevertheless, the furnishing style of the two holiday apartments differs considerably. That's one thingminimalist furnished, with simple furniture, some of which is even built-in. A progression from light to dark tones can be observed. Colored lighting effects create beautiful accents in the kitchen and bedroom and create a special atmosphere. This minimalist den has a seating area, kitchen with dining area, small bedroom, shower area, sauna and steam room.
The furnishing style in the second holiday home can be described as:futuristicdesignate. Several colored light effects that can be found everywhere in the cave contribute to this. A dark mirror is used as a wall covering in the living area and bedroom and is designed with geometric shapes in bright colors. These create an optical illusion of openings in the wall that don't actually exist. The square opening in the ceiling in the living area also sets playful accents in the interior and lights up in different colors in the evening. You can take a closer look at the fascinating cave dwellings in the picture gallery.
