Rough natural stone facade in contrast to white walls and light wood in the interior

The talented architect Laura Alvarez from Spain has designed a beautiful holiday home with a completely natural look in northern Spain. The design is based on the “cabaña pasiega” (farmer's hut), which is traditional for this region, and has a classic gable roof. What strikes you at first glance is the rough natural stone facade, which is paired with large wooden barn doors. Large sliding glass doors are hidden behind it in the evening, providing direct access to the living room. In contrast to the rough look of the facade, the interiors are bright and modern. The color palette of white, gray and light wood creates an interesting contrast to the exterior and appears friendly and inviting. The holiday home is built in the middle of nature and is therefore surrounded on all sides by green meadows, small forests and hills. Therefore, it is considered a wonderful refuge for its visitors.

The holiday home was called Villa Slow and was built on the site of an old stone ruin. The stones from the ruins were reused and used together with other materials from the Calabria region to build the villa. This is how a cozy hut with a stone facade and modern interior was created.

The rough natural stone facade of the villa speaks of naturalness and blends harmoniously into the rural landscape. The stone is paired with another natural material – wood. All windows and patio doors have large barn doors from the outside that can completely close off the house.

Both sides of the house have a small terrace without a roof, which merges with the interior when the doors are open. The terraces are only laid with a few natural stone slabs and when the weather is nice the terrace furniture can be brought out. So you can enjoy meals or let off steam in the open air.

There is one for the entranceDoor with pivot axischosen, which looks very modern and invites visitors into the house. It first leads to a small anteroom that serves as a hallway. Next is the open living space. This has a kitchen with dining room and a cozy living room.

The interior is dominated by light wood tones, which give a feeling of warmth and coziness. The many wooden elements are with white walls and classicFurniture in graycombined. There is nothing superfluous in the furnishings. Instead of a television, the large wall in the living room is decorated with a fireplace. The firewood is stored directly above in a wall niche, further contributing to the natural atmosphere.

The bedroom is decorated in the same color palette and has a small private terrace. The bathroom is right next to the bed, which many guests find very practical and comfortable. Directly above is the attic, which is designed as a small but cozy sleeping area for children, for example.

When you enter the house from the outside, you can enjoy the beautiful contrast between the facade and the interior. The rough natural stone facade has a special natural charm, whereas the minimalist furnishings create a modern spatial effect.
