Floor-to-ceiling windows connect this secluded villa in Sweden with its surroundings

Each of us dreams of a secluded place where we can relax and recover from the stressful everyday life. The owners of this house did it! The villa is located on a small private island in Sweden, where the residents live entirely alone. The remote holiday home was built in 2009 by Jordens Arkitekter and covers a total area of around 200 square meters. Floor-to-ceiling windows replace the villa's exterior walls and eliminate the boundaries between indoor and outdoor spaces. And if that could invade the privacy of the residents in a residential area, the problem doesn't exist here. Apart from the holiday home and its annexes, there is nothing on the island other than rocks, green spaces and trees.

Floor-to-ceiling windows instead of exterior walls in a modern villa

The modern house is built on a small hill, giving the impression that it is floating in the air. The interiors and terraces are on the same level, allowing for a seamless transition between inside and outside. TheFloor to ceiling windowsstill function as sliding doors and can open the rooms onto the terrace and garden. Light white curtains serve as sun protection in the interior, rounding off the interior perfectly and making it more cozy.

The entire villa is surrounded by terraces, one of which is wider than the others and also serves as a sundeck. There is also an outdoor dining room with enough space for 10 people. Right next to it, in the interior, is the large living room. He follows the latest trendsdesigned with an open concept– Living room, dining area and kitchen share a common space.

Natural color palette inside in harmony with nature

The furnishings in the large living room are simple, but by no means boring. TheColor palette is inspired by natureand is consistent with the view through the windows. A colorful carpet adds an atmospheric touch to the interior and the large leather sofas in dark brown contrast with the light floor covering. The open kitchen with kitchen island has a built-in glass fireplace that looks very modern.
