The Gwel-An-Treth House is a project by Laurence Associates and is located in Sennen Cove, Cornwall, England. It sits on a steep slope overlooking the picturesque village below and Cape Cornwall. The customer wanted to have the old holiday home completely redesigned and modernized. The new house makes optimal use of the location and the beautiful views through the extensive use of glass such as glass railings, skylights and floor-to-ceiling glazing. Glass also allows daylight to flow freely into the house and creates a pleasant contrast with the solid stone walls.
The house is located in an area characterized by outstanding natural beauty, therefore the contemporary design has been combined with classic architectural elements. The client wanted to explore an alternative approach to the design process and introduce a few changes in close consultation with the structural engineer. According to the revised architectural plan, the building should be positioned further on the steep slope so that the bedrooms are at a different level than the entrance area.
The sea can still be seen from the light-flooded entrance area. There are two balconies and two sun terraces below. The wooden sun loungers are set up on the lawn.

Take a tour of the house and enjoy the beautiful ocean views!
