The customer's assignment, the shape of the plot and the location were both inspiration and impulse for the design. This resulted in an organic, oval house with an interesting shape as a new type of single-family home. The project was called “The Heart” from the start because the floor plan is strongly reminiscent of this shape. The sloping terrain of the plot, with its gradual descent, creates a height difference approximately equal to the height of a standard floor in relation to street level.
Oval house with inspiring design
This newly created space was initially used primarily as a garagedirect access to the propertyused. It is used to store all the necessary amenities such as a boiler and storage room. The main living area of the house is located on the highest part of the property when viewed from street level.
As you walk in from the street you will be greeted by a friendly and open theme. The architects chose this specifically for the side of the accommodation. For this reason, it is arranged as an oval house closer to the street and is largely designed without fences.
Combining functionality and style
The entrance area had to create a cozy feeling of living, while the relatively closed facade only has a few windows. The residential area, where the bedroom, living room and kitchen are located, overlooks the garden with an access to the balcony and a beautiful view of the nearby forest.
In harmony with the nature that surrounds the house, the designer used predominantly natural materials and colors. To highlight the elegant curves of the house, the facade is clad in a rusty vertical Corten steel. The architects also covered this with a very smooth wave pattern. The pergola is made of wooden beams that copy the wave pattern of the glass facade and form a kind of eyelashes over the open windows of the house.
Be close to nature
The green roof, wild green lawns, thick patches of bamboo and the rusty bars of the fences add an interesting combination of colors to the house. Accordingly, they adapt naturally and harmoniously to the constantly changing color palette of the surrounding landscape.
The designer also addressed the natural theme in the interior. This can be seen not only by the choice of colors and materials such as reclaimed wood, natural stone, heavy wooden beams, light green, sky blue and dark green, but also by the design decisions made for individual features. Door handles, handrails and rollers on heating elements in bathrooms are specially cast from aluminum.
They are based primarily on real twigs, leaves and wood stumps that were locally sourced. The investor's enthusiasm for these experiments and his technical capabilities were a great help and made the entire process run smoothly.
