Nelo Décor Architects completed a fascinating project in 2018. “The Rough House” in Vietnam is a modern, luxurious residence built on the site of an old family home. The new building offers 600 square meters of living space spread over three floors. According to the homeowners' wishes, the architects created accommodation with a special connection to nature. Floor-to-ceiling windows and open, airy spaces welcome the outside world.
The facade of the three-story house differs from the rest of the buildings in the area due to its light brown color. The facade is initially striking due to the composition of cubes of different sizes, which create an asymmetrical and unique shape. Thesimple house facadeis decorated by lush green plants. The entrance area marks the border to the interior of the house with step-like floors and beautiful, decorative sculptures. The stone wall gives the house facade a structured and pure look.
The individual rooms are designed to ensure the best possible air circulation. The homeowner's style is reflected in the fascinating house design. All rooms are open and have a view of the plants, trees or water. This ensures that there is a natural flow of air throughout the campus. The consistent interior design concept with rooms that flow seamlessly into one another is reinforced by an impressive combination of materials. The contemporary look is achieved through the interaction of metal, stone and wood. The interior is characterized by a confident and liberal style.
The ground floor consists of a guest room, dining area and kitchen, and offers a direct view of the swimming pool. This completely eliminates the boundary between indoor and outdoor areas. Floor-to-ceiling windows let in enough daylight and create a comfortable and homely atmosphere. The individual functional areas in this living space are delimited using luxury furniture.
Dark colors were chosen for the furnishings in the cozy, airy family room, while the walls create a beautiful contrast with their light colors. The large dark wood dining table gives the room an additional elegant touch. The combination of different pendant lights add another modern touch and make the living area appear bright and inviting even in the evenings.
The kitchen area accommodates a fitted kitchen, a cooking island and sufficient cupboards for storage. The ceiling of the cooking area is decorated with wooden elements in a dark brown tone. There is a door at each end of the kitchen, to the pantry and the garden as well as to the toilet. A glass wall lets in sufficient light and offers an unrestricted view of the rectangular swimming pool and thevertical gardenon the wall next to the swimming pool. A comfortable armchair is positioned there, which offers a comfortable opportunity to relax.
The second floor, accessed by stairs or elevator, houses two bedroom suites for the family's two sons and is characterized by modern materials and unique workmanship. One bedroom is decorated in white. The room has onewalk-in closetand is decorated in a minimalist style. The second sleeping area does not differ much from the interior of the room already described. It is equipped with a balcony where you can enjoy the fresh air outside with a cup of tea or coffee after getting up. Floor-to-ceiling windows also provide a great view.
On the top floor is the master bedroom suite. The large bedroom is very luxurious. It accommodates a huge bed as well as a work area. Bookcases with a great design act as room dividers and give the room the finishing touch. Behind the sleeping area there is a spacious bathroom that is a true oasis of well-being. The chic open-concept bathroom with a freestanding marble bathtub adjoins another walk-in closet with a comfortable seating area and a beautifully organized collection of shoes and bags that make the space feel particularly sophisticated.
On the open terrace, a large table and rattan chairs offer the opportunity for a relaxed get-together in the open air. The horizontal planting and green plants around create a fresh and natural ambience.
