Juicy apples, crispy dough and cinnamon: This apple cake in a crispy coating is the perfect recipe for autumn and winter!

Outside the last autumn leaves are dancing in the wind, inside we are snuggling up in a warm blanket with a cup of tea - right now is the perfect time for apple pie. But not just anyone!

Our apple cake in a crispy coating brings the taste of autumn and winter straight to your cake fork. Juicy apples, a hint of cinnamon and a crispy dough shell make it a real feel-good recipe. Perfect for cozy afternoons with the family or simply as a little break from the gray weather.

Recipe for delicious apple pie with a crispy coating

Ingredients:

  • 200 g ground almonds
  • 250 g Flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 50g sugar
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 1 packet of vanilla sugar
  • Salt
  • 250 g kalte Butter
  • 1 No (M)
  • 0.5 tsp cinnamon
  • 5 small apples
  • 3 tbsp lemon juice
  • 150 g Apfelgelee
  • 2 tbsp powdered sugar

Preparation:

1. Mix the almonds, flour, baking powder, 50 g sugar, vanilla sugar and a pinch of salt. Add butter in pieces and egg, knead quickly to form a smooth dough. Cover and chill for about 1 hour. Mix 2 tablespoons sugar with cinnamon. Peel the apples, cut them in half and remove the core. Drizzle apples with lemon juice.

2. Divide the dough so that one part is slightly larger. Roll out the smaller part into a rectangle (approx. 22 x 35 cm) on a floured work surface and place it on a small tray (approx. 25 x 40 cm) lined with baking paper. Prick the dough several times with a fork and spread with apple jelly. Place apple halves, cut side down, on the dough. Sprinkle with cinnamon sugar.

3. Roll out the rest of the dough on a floured surface to a slightly larger size (approx. 26 x 42 cm) and place it over the apples. Press the edges of the dough, if necessary cut straight. If the dough tears in some places, repair it with the dough sections. Prick the dough several times with a fork. Bake in a preheated oven (electric stove: 180 °C, fan oven: 160 °C, gas: level 2) for 40-45 minutes. Remove and let cool. Serve dusted with powdered sugar.
