We make chaffles! Yes, you read that right. What are chaffles? Good question and this is the answer:Chaffels = cheese + waffles!

Recipe idea:

It really is that easy, the best of both worlds come together, waffles and cheese! They are low in carbohydrates, high in protein and so versatile that you can enjoy them at any time of day and with whatever your heart desires. And you only need two ingredients.

Simple recipe for chaffles

  • 5-6 eggs (size M/L)
  • approx. 300 g grated cheese (mozzarella, cheddar or another cheese of your choice)
  • optional spices, such as pepper or paprika powder

This amount should be enough for around 5-6 chaffles.

Tipp:If you want to enjoy the chaffles as a sweet snack, use a more neutral cheese such as mozzarella, then the chaffle will not be as savory or salty and goes perfectly in combination with sweet berries or chocolate.

Preparing chaffles is so easy:

1. Preheat your waffle iron. Here you can find a top-rated combination waffle iron on Amazon*.

2. Beat the eggs in a bowl and add the grated cheese. Mix everything well. Now add the spices too.

3. Pour the mixture into your preheated waffle iron in batches and let it bake for about 3-5 minutes until the waffles are golden brown and crispy. Let the chaffles cool for a few minutes before enjoying.

This is how chaffles taste even better:

You can definitely add herbs or spices to the chaffles batter to give them more flavor. Basil, oregano and paprika powder are definitely a good idea.

It's also a great idea to serve the chaffles with a dip. Hummus or guacamole would certainly be a tasty addition and would provide a “healthier” component to the dish.
