The royal couple went to the Foundling Museum, which tells the story of the 18th century Foundling Hospital. This is Britain's first children's charity. The building was originally intended in 1739 as a home for children who were at risk of being abandoned. TheDuchess Kate Middletonhas now become a patron of the museum.

Joint support for children and foster families of Kate and William

Shortly after arriving in London, the couple attended a round table with experts from across the industry. The conversation covered the wider landscape of foster care in the UK and the challenges young people face. Additionally, they have addressed issues such as employment, housing, mental health and addiction. The Duchess has made early childhood development a key part of her royal work. She found that many of the greatest social challenges of our time have their roots in childhood. Therefore, the Duchess of Cambridge committed herself to this collaboration to improve conditions for children as they reach adulthood. During the trip, Kate and William also spoke to people who have experienced the care system first hand. One of them was the poet and writer Lemn Sissay. He supported Kate's Hold Still project, which reflects living conditions in the UK during a pandemic.

One of the museum's main activities is to use the work of artists, writers and musicians to develop educational programs. This is particularly true for marginalized and at-risk young people. The concept aligns with Kate's interest in art therapy, which she uses in some of her supported mental health charities. Some of those supported by the Our Tales program have continued to conduct art workshops at the museum. Kate and William were introduced to the project, created to help young people who have experienced foster care gain skills to develop and deliver workshops at the Museum of Families, creating paid employment and valuable life skills .
