Making clowns with children for carnival – templates, ideas and instructions

Craft idea for kindergarten children

This craft idea is ideal for kindergarten children because it involves working with simple geometric figures. Children learn to work with shapes and colors. The juggler consists of circles, triangles, semicircles and ovals. ForToddlersyou can prepare the necessary shapes from construction paper in advance. Older children can do thisindividual components according to templatecut out.

Materials needed: colored paper, glue stick, scissors, felt-tip pen, compasses or circle punch

You should prepare the following geometric shapes:

  • The juggling balls and the face consist of six circles in different colors
  • Triangles of the same size (5 pieces) for trousers, sleeves and hat
  • An oval for the body
  • A star for the collar
  • A second oval (cut into two equal parts) for the shoes
  • A smaller oval cut in two for the hands

We start building the clown from the bottom up. Glue on the shoes first, then add the pants and body. The hands and head are then glued on. The clown's face is drawn with a felt-tip pen. At the end, glue the hat and collar. The clown juggles 5 colorful balls.

Make a puppet out of a toilet paper roll

You need:

colored paper
toilet paper roll
threads
2 plastic lids
Glue
Scissors
wooden sticks

1.toilet paper rollApply glue and wrap the paper around it.

2. Cut out all the details for the clown face from colored paper and glue them onto the golden cylinder.

3. Make two small holes at the bottom of the toilet roll.

4. Now make the feet. Cut two pieces of thread of one color 20 cm long. Make a hole in the middle of each bottle stopper.

5. Thread the thread through the toilet roll and knot it at the bottom of the stopper.

6. Cut out 3 long threads (two blue and one red thread) and tie them to the wooden stick.

7. Attach the other end of the blue threads to the plastic bottle caps as well. With the help of these threads you can control the legs.

8. The red thread in the middle is attached to the clown's head with a piece of adhesive tape.

The puppet is ready. The toy will help develop your child's sense of space and coordination.

Make a clown face out of a paper plate

This craft idea is suitable for children aged 7 to 12. For the clown you will need: a paper plate, colored paper, craft glue and scissors.

1. Cut out the strips of orange paper measuring 1 x 8 cm for the hair. Glue the strips in 2 rows along the edge of the paper plate.

2. Cut out all the paper elements of the face:

Circles in diameter:
• 1 x 4 cm – Nase
• 2 x 2 cm – Wangen
• 2 x 2 cm for eyes
• 2 x 1.5 cm for pupils

Two triangles in red and white for lips
Two sheets of black paper for eyebrows

3. Glue all the elements of the face onto the paper plate

4. Cut out the shapes for the clown's hat and tie from construction paper in green and yellow and glue them on.

The clown's head is ready!

If you want to make the clown even more beautiful, you can add three juggling balls.

1. Cut a circle of thick paper with a diameter of 5 - 6 cm and strips of colored paper of three colors.

2. Glue the strips on a circle in three rows.

3. Attach the balls under the clown's head at different levels using cardboard strips or threads.
