Simple tips for children's handprint

Who can resist a homemade card, especially ifthese little handsand fingers remain forever. Okay, things might get a little messy. But these handprint ideas are surprisingly easy to make. And they are the ideal keepsake card for family and friends.

What paint should you use to make handprint Christmas cards with kids?

Use a non-toxic water-based paint. Not only is it better for your child's skin and easier to wash off, but it is also thinner sothe cute detailsappear better in the handprint.

Most colors available on the market are suitable for children aged 36 months and over. Be careful when using for younger children and be sure to supervise them at all times to prevent paint from getting where it doesn't belong!

How should you apply the paint?

Putting some paint on a plate and pushing your child's hand right into it sounds fun, but it can end up getting too much paint on their hand.

For the best print quality, apply the paint directly to your hand with a brush.

Alternatively, you can put the paint on a large sponge and press the child's hand onto the sponge.

How to get toddler handprint?

We should warn you that it can be very difficult to get a good handprint from a very small child (footprints are easier). You have the best chance when your child is sleeping.

If you decide to give it a try, we definitely recommend having a second adult with you to help you prepare everything (including cloths and water for cleaning!) before applying the paint.

This is a simple Christmas card for toddlers and the result is very beautiful, colorful and atmospheric.

What you need:

  • Plain paper or cardboard
  • Washable paint - green for the tree and other colors for decoration
  • Big brush
  • Golden marker

Using the large brush, paint the child's palms and fingers with green paint. Make sure you apply the paint nice and thick in the middle of your palms, as this area won't touch the paper as easily.

Starting at the bottom of the paper, gently press your hands onto the sheet, one at a time.

To create the shape of a Christmas tree, you need to make three rows of handprints. You can apply three handprints for the first row at the bottom of the tree, then two for the second row, and just one for the top of the tree. For toddlers with much smaller hands, consider adding more handprints. This applies to letter size paper. If you use larger paper you can make a much larger Christmas tree.

Let the green handprints dry and then the tree can be decorated. Choose the colors for the jewelry with thumbprints (for large ornaments) andfingerprints (for small ornaments)be dabbed on. Dab or glue a yellow dot on the top of the tree to make it look like a starone made of glitterpaper cut out on.

Once the paint has dried, you can use a gold marker to draw a string between the jewelry pieces.
