No matter whether it's the evil Snow Queen, the terrible fairytale queen or a princess - they all need one and the same accessory to be recognized straight away, namely a crown. Of course, there are a number of models available on the market today. However, if you can't find what fits your theme quickly or you just feel like doing a DIY project, you can use simple cable ties to create a Halloween headdress for women that will blow everyone away.
How simple cable ties become a magnificent crown
There are numerous variations of homemade crowns, but hardly any are as incredibly easy and inexpensive as this one. How do you make a crown with cable ties?
- Cable ties in any length and color
- simple headband
- any spray paint
- Decorations to decorate the crown (choose light accessories that do not increase the weight of the headdress too much)
- Hot glue
Tipp:If you want to color the crown black, you can also use black cable ties. Otherwise, it is recommended to use white models as the spray paint you choose can cover them better.
How do you make the headdress for Halloween?
The instructions on how to do thisMake a crown, is incredibly simple. In the following way you create the base for a model that you can then decorate as you wish.
- Tie cable ties around the headband. Leave out the ends of the hoop.
- Trim the protruding ends as desired.
- Decorate the crown as you wish. You can glue stars or rhinestones onto the binder heads and, for example, artificial flowers along the headband.
How to design the headdress for Halloween
The color is the first thing that should be chosen correctly for the theme. The Snow Queen, for example, needs a crown with an icy look, for which silver, white, light blue and/or turquoise are suitable. An “Evil Queen”, however, can be designed with black accessories. The details of the crown are also variable. Instead of the skewers from the model in the instructions, you can also create other types of skewers.
Teardrop details for a princess
- Use several cable ties to form teardrop shapes of different sizes, place them one inside the other and then attach them to the headband with another tie.
- You can use the long end of this last binder to support the teardrop-shaped details by gluing the binder heads onto it.
- Make more of these details to create the complete crown.
- Spray paint the headdress in the desired color.
- Decorate it with rhinestones or something similar to hide the binder heads.
Combine the skewers with the teardrop shapes
The combination of both variants also looks very nice. In general, the design can be freely chosen regardless of the costume. Each crown works equally well for any Halloween costume and is influenced more by the color. However, the skewers do make a differencescarier look, which is why it is particularly suitable for scary costumes.
Black details for a spiky model
You can decorate a black base with such artificial flowers as in the video below. Just look at the craft or decoration shop or online to see what decorations you can find. For such black crowns, options made from lace are suitable, for example, and can be glued to the base without making the accessory unnecessarily heavy.
Silver for the Snow Queen
Here you can see a perfect example of a snow queen. Silver color was used and details that look like real metal give the whole thing the finishing touch. AlsoSnowflakes or ice crystalsyou could use for this purpose.
By the way:Have you noticed the interesting jewelry for the ear? This is also made of cable ties!
Golden rays of sunshine for a sun costume
Not everyone chooses a scary costume for Halloween. The sun would be a great idea and with the cable ties you can easily conjure up a few rays of sunshine on your head.

We have already explained above how to make this type of crown. You can make the arch elements as high as you want and get a more or less impressive princess crown that is also ideal for a fairy.
