Whether for a wedding or christening, candles are always a good idea for party favors. They look beautiful and can also be used by guests. We will now show you how you can make these candles yourself with pretty, ecclesiastical accents. First, get the materials:
- Candle wax
- candle wick
- double-sided adhesive dots, transparent
- Hot glue gun
- white satin ribbon, thin
- Scatter decoration crosses
- small glasses
- Clothespin
- Cardstock and print template
First melt the wax over medium heat in a water bath. Stir with a metal whisk until completely melted. Allow the wax to cool for 10-15 minutes.
While the wax is cooling, add a dot of glue to the bottom of a pre-waxed wick and stick it to the bottom of the jar.
Once the wax has cooled for the allotted time, fill the jar with it. If necessary, use a clothespin to hold the wick upright. Allow the wax to cool and harden, then trim the wick.
Tie a piece of white satin ribbon around the neck of the mini glass jar. Use a small dab of hot glue to overlap the ribbon in the middle. Glue a small cross where the ribbon overlaps.
Print out our free gift tag template (see below) on white cardstock and punch out the round tags using a paper punch (or simply cut them out by hand). Attach the labels to the jar with adhesive dots.
Display your homemade baptism candles on a decorative tray so that every guest can take this sweet and sentimental souvenir home with them!

Make christening gifts for guests with flower seeds
Flower seeds asWedding guest giftor baptisms are currently very trendy. The idea behind it is simple: After the celebration, the guests should plant the seeds and take care of the growing plant. Such a gift is environmentally friendly, practical and always well received. And the ideas for decorating are almost endless.
Pack flower seeds in cloth bags
Since flower seeds are a sustainable gift, it would be recommended to include them tooenvironmentally friendly packaging. Fabric scraps are an excellent idea for this. Check out the steps in the picture guide below.
First, cut out a square piece of fabric using pinking shears to neatly shape the edges. Then place a small square piece of paper in the center that will serve as the base for your seed packets. Scatter the flower seeds on top, bring all the corners of the fabric together and tie them with a piece of yarn. If desired, add a label with the guest's name or a small thank you note. Another interesting idea for this guest gift can be found below.
DIY baptism gifts in a glass
You can use mini-sized jars for more than just homemade candles. You can also make a decorative guest gift from them by filling them with white beads and attaching a cross under the lid. The cute gift is perfectly rounded off with a piece of lace ribbon around the glass and a small gift tag with the name of the person being baptized.
Flower seeds in a glass with a nice saying
Small cork glasses are also perfect for flower seeds as a gift idea for the guests at the baptism. An original label also fits in with this. Here is an example:
"Thank you!
Please scatter in my name
these little flower seeds.
When they bear flowers - countless of them,
think back to my baptism.”
Add the name of the person being baptized and the baptism date and your personal gift is ready.
Small picture frame with photo as a gift for a baptism
It's not just relatives who will be happy to receive a photo of the person being baptized. This nice and personal gift will be well received by all guests and will remain as a nice souvenir of your child's baptism. First, choose a nice photo of the child or take a photo of him specifically for this purpose. You then insert the photo into a suitable picture frame to give as a gift to the guests.
You can also give the photo as a guest gift in the form of small refrigerator magnets. If you find suitable mini picture frames, you can make the magnets yourself without much effort. You still need small round magnets, printed photos of the child in small format and glue. If you want to paint the picture frames in a different color, then acrylic paints are best suited for this.
Make christening gifts for guests out of salt dough or polymer clay
Various small figures are also suitable as party favors for different occasions. They may not have any practical value, but they look quite elegant and round off the decoration wonderfully. Ecclesiastical motifs such as crosses and angels go best with a baptism, but white doves and lambs are also popular. If you want the party favors to be homemade, you can also make the figures yourself instead of ordering them.
Salt dough is the ideal material for making small figures. It is quite cheap and easy to use. To make salt dough you only need 3 ingredients – salt, flour and water. A dough is kneaded from this and then shaped as desired. Alternatively, you can of course also use white Fimo modeling clay.
To ensure that all the figures look the same, we recommend using cookie cutters. To do this, roll out the salt dough or modeling clay and simply cut out the shapes with the selected cutter. Then let the figures harden in the oven or in the air. If you want to attach a pendant, don't forget to make a small hole while the material has not yet hardened.
The white figures look nice as is, but you can decorate them further if you wish. With a pen or thin brush and paint you can add a few decorative elements or even write the name and date. Pretty cellophane packaging would also be recommended to give the christening gifts for guests a finished look.
Classic baptism gifts for guests: wrap baptismal almonds
It doesn't get more classic than baptismal almonds. This tried and tested christening gift is always well received and has a special symbolism. Five sugar-coated almonds are usually given as gifts, each representing love, success, long life, happiness and God's blessing. If you have decided on this classic gift, you can get creative again and make the packaging for the baptismal almonds yourself. Below is a simple DIY idea.
Make a pinwheel out of felt
Pack the baptismal almonds in a small organza bag and decorate it with a homemade pinwheel. To do this you need blue or pink felt (neutral works too, just match the color to the decoration), hot glue and a small wooden handle. Here's how to do it step by step:
- Using a pen and ruler, draw a square with a side of approx. 7 cm on the felt sheet and cut it out.
- Using scissors, cut the square again diagonally from the outer corners toward the center. Don't cut the felt all the way, but leave about 2 to 3 cm to the middle of the square. So make 4 cuts for each vertex.
- Take one end of the square and fold it, connecting the corner to the center of the square. Glue them in place with a dot of hot glue.
- Repeat for the remaining 3 sides, always folding each side in the same direction.
- Glue all 4 corners to the center of the square, take a button (or other decoration of your choice) and hot glue it to the intersection of the corners.
- Take a wooden stick and glue it to the back of the pinwheel.
- Tie or glue the organza bag with baptismal almonds to the stem and your baptism gift is ready.
Homemade cookies as christening gifts for guests
Instead of making christening gifts for guests, you can simply bake them! Yes, homemade cookies are always a good idea when it comes to party favors. All you need for this idea is agood cookie recipeand matching cookie cutters. Crosses, of course, but also angels and doves go well with baptisms.
If you stick to a specific theme for the baptism decoration, you can of course decorate the cookies accordingly. The egg white glaze is best suited for this (also called...Royal Icingknown), which you can color as desired with food coloring. Once the icing has dried (it's best to wait 24 hours), you can wrap the cookies in cellophane and decorate them with a pretty bow. This makes them more suitable for take-away.
