Especially now in the dark season, many people are missing the sun and bright daylight. Although we do not necessarily depend on light, it still influences the organism and the psyche. Last but not least, an old saying says “Light is life”. So it's no wonder that we often feel weak and exhausted in autumn and winter. On the other hand, those who expose themselves to a lot of light feel more energetic, can handle difficult tasks better and are often happier. This is because light releases feel-good hormones (so-called endorphins) in the body and helps to switch off and relax from everyday stress.
If there is a lack of daylight in the cold season, it is even more important to ensure good lighting conditions within your own four walls. The most effective and cost-effective way to achieve this is through the intelligent use of lamps and other light sources. Nowadays, you can quickly and easily make your home brighter thanks to a wide variety of lights to create a relaxed, feel-good atmosphere.
What parts does a lamp consist of?
Depending on the design and use, a lamp, e.g. ceiling lamp, floor lamp, etc., is made up of different parts. When purchasing, it is important to consider the components of the lamp in advance. A ceiling lamp, for example, consists of a bracket, connection cables, the body of the lamp, its electronics and a cable for grounding. However, this cable is not available in most floor lamps. It is also important to take a look at thedifferent versionsto throw. They can be made of plastic or metal and fulfill an important task: the light source is located in them and they connect it to the electrical circuit. This is the only way light can emerge.
Lamp holder – plastic or metal?
When buying a new lamp it is often difficultthe variety of possibilitiesto decide. The range of round, square, oval and extravagant lamps in different price ranges seems almost endless. It therefore makes sense as a buyer to concentrate on certain features such as size, design or the material used. A nice example of this is the use of bronze. The metal used to be the basic material for lamp holders. Later, plastic replaced metal, but problems often arose. Plastic can have a brittle surface; if a fall occurs, cracks or breaks will form. Larger temperature fluctuations (e.g. in the basement) can also cause problems sooner or later.
Bronze can withstand even the lowest and highest temperatures, is reminiscent of earlier times and provides a nice retro flair. Bending is only possible with extreme effort; the frame can function permanently. Plastic is difficult to use here. It certainly has many advantages, but it is not sustainable and often does not retain its shine over the long term. Rubber and plastic cables continue to reduce visual value. For bronze frames, only textile cables should be used. These are more expensive to purchase, but the purchase is worth it when you look at the numerous offers. Fabric cables are available in all colors, patterns and lengths.
