And in addition, these eggs will undoubtedly put a smile or two on your guests' faces. Are you now interested in imitating the ideas? Then choose one of the instructions below or follow all the design ideas to paint and decorate your Easter eggs in a fun way this year.
Make fun Easter eggs in the shape of ice cream
First we would like to introduce you to the idea from our cover photo. As you can see, the Easter eggs are thereIce cream in an ice cream conewhat looks really funny. And what may seem complicated or time-consuming at first glance is actually very quick and easy to do. All you need is a few materials and of course some free time and desire and you can get started. The necessary materials are the following:
- Ear sticks
- hard-boiled eggs (white ones are best, but brown ones are also suitable for “chocolate ice cream”)
- Acrylic paint in matching colors (white or very light pastel yellow for vanilla, pink for strawberry and so on)
- Ice cream cones
You should hard-boil the eggs in advance and let them cool. You can then start painting the Easter eggs. To do this, mix the acrylic paint with a little water to dilute it (1 teaspoon of paint and 1/4 teaspoon of water). With these colors and a brush you can now color the eggs. Allow the first layer to dry and, if necessary, add a second layer that you also allow to dry.
Next you need the ear sticks for the sprinkles. Cut them in half. You need half for each color. Dip the plastic end in any color to draw the sprinkles onto the eggs. For the next color, take a new half of the ear stick. Paint as many sprinkles as you like until you have made the Easter eggs fun and finished. Once the paint has dried, you can place the eggs into the ice cream cones.
Make funny Easter eggs with cotton wool
This Easter egg decoration in the shape of ice cream is no less pretty to look at, but a little more cute and romantic. The egg itself does not transform into the ice cream, but instead receives egg cream figures with a 3D effect. 3D effect because the ice is not just painted on, but creates texture. You need for this cute3D Easter eggsPictures made of cotton wool following materials:
- hard-boiled eggs
- Cotton wool
- Acrylic paint in pastel colors (blue, green, pink, yellow, mint and others as desired)
- gold paint (either acrylic or a marker pen)
- Glue (e.g. hot glue)
- Paint brush
- optional: Goldglitzer
You can also mix the pastel colors yourself. So if you can't find the exact shade you're looking for, just mix white acrylic paint with the strong color to make it paler. If you now want to make the Easter eggs fun, first dilute the finished color mixture with a little water and form small balls out of the cotton wool. Then take the brush, dip it into the paint and use it to color the cotton balls. The front is sufficient as the back will be glued to the egg and not visible. Sprinkle a little glitter onto the still damp cotton and then let the paint dry.
In the meantime, use the golden paint to paint small triangles on the eggs and let them dry in the same way. These are supposed to be the ice cream cones. Then put a little glue on the egg, directly above the ice cream cone. Then press a cotton ball onto it. You can create as many ice cream cones as you like on each egg. That depends entirely on the size. But if you just add ice cream, it will of course come into its own better. Let the glue set at room temperature for about 30 minutes. The Easter eggs can then be stored in the refrigerator until Easter.
Create ice cream Easter eggs as fun motifs and decorations
We still have one last variant for ice cream Easter eggs. Here the eggs are hand-painted and no additional decorative elements are required. Again, use acrylic instead of regular egg paint. So that you don't have to dye the eggs light brown first, this time you can get brown eggs instead of white ones and boil them hard. You can now paint the Easter eggs with acrylic paint. More specifically, paint the rounder end, only painting about a third of the egg. A wavy edge looks more real than a simple straight one. The rest of the ice cream in its brown color is the ice cream cone, which you can also use a brown or pink felt-tip pen to create a typical waffle pattern on. After that you can then add little faces like that if you want. Sprinkles, glitter or other decorative elements and motifs are also suitable for decorating the Easter eggs in a fun and unusual way.
Or how about using donuts as a motif? Hardly anyone doesn't love this dessert, so eggs on the Easter table are guaranteed to whet your appetite. You will need acrylic paint again, as well as white chicken eggs and colored marker pens. The first thing you need to do is boil the eggs and let them cool. Then you can paint the Easter eggs with paint. It is best to use a brush for this. You don't necessarily have to dilute the acrylic paint. Just try it out and see if it works.
Paint a wide ring below the tip of the egg. It is best to choose the rounder egg tip. Now you need the sugar sprinkles, for which you use the colored marker pens after the acrylic paint has dried and you're done. Instead of chicken eggs, you can also use white plastic eggs, as acrylic sticks well to them. In this way, you can create several eggs in different colors. You can even make a few for friends and family. You will definitely be happy about the original idea and find the Easter eggs funny.
Paint macaroons
And what do you think of these macaroons as a motif? What looks like a stamp is actually hand-painted and much easier than you might think. Again, instead of normal Easter egg paints, you will need acrylic paints, as well as a thin and a wide brush, glitter if desired and of course hard-boiled eggs. You also need to make a template for the Easter eggs. You have two options for this: either you look for any macaron picture online and print it out, or you draw a sketch yourself on cardboard and then cut it out. Just make sure that the outlines actually resemble macarons. In the picture below you can see an example of how to draw macarons.
Once you have cut out the macaron stencils, you can use them to design the Easter eggs. Place the template on the egg and trace the outline with a pencil. Then transfer the inner elements as well as the bottom edges of the cookie and the cream. Then move on to painting. To do this, use two shades of a color (e.g. a light and a darker purple) as well as white color. In this way you create shading, which makes the individual parts of the macaroons stand out better.
Take the darker shade and a thin brush and paint the cookies with it. In the middle area add a little white, which will give you the shading already mentioned. Again, paint the cream filling with the lighter shade. While the paint is still wet, you can also add a bit of glitter. Finally, use the wider brush to highlight the area between the cream and the biscuit with the dark shade from the rest. This is best done in dabbing movements. And you're done coloring.
Now let the egg dry completely. In the meantime, you can continue with the other Easter eggs, for which you simply repeat all the steps. If you make several in different colors and later put them together in an Easter basket, it will look particularly pretty on the Easter table and you will also get a table decoration where the eggs look fun and original. And if you want, add some donuts and ice cream eggs. Just be careful that no one mistakes them for real desserts!
Decorate Easter eggs with edible confetti
Real sprinkles in any shape are also nice Easter egg ideas that you can use to decorate. Edible confetti was used in this example, but other shapes of sprinkles are also suitable. That doesn't matter. And if you can't decide with the large selection in the store, take a package of each and decorate several eggs with them. In addition to the sprinkles, you will also need:
- hard-boiled eggs
- 2 tbsp powdered sugar
- 1/2 to 1 tsp water
- a thin brush
- tweezers
The eggs should not only be cooked, but also cold and, above all, dry before you start. Instead of glue, use icing, which you make from powdered sugar and water. This shouldn't be too liquid. Of course you can also use glue. However, with powdered sugar, any mistakes can be corrected more easily. So the choice is yours. Keep in mind that the frosting dries quickly. For this reason, you need to stir it at regular intervals. Now take the brush and start designing.
Dip the brush into the icing and paint any pattern on the egg. Then, using the tweezers (or your fingers, if it's easier for you), gradually pick up confetti and stick it onto this icing pattern. If you are satisfied with the results, you can set the egg aside to dry. You can then move on to the next egg and try a different pattern or motif. If you have chosen tiny sugar sprinkles as decoration, you can put them in a shallow bowl or deep plate and dip the painted egg into it so that the sprinkles stick. They would probably melt quickly between your fingers. And with that, you can make these Easter eggs fun in just a few simple steps.
Ideas for decoration and alternative materials
Although we talk about boiled eggs in all of the instructions, you can also use blown eggs. This is particularly practical if you want to hang up the finished eggsfor the Easter bouquetor want to use another hanging Easter decoration. You can also blow out the Easter eggs for an Easter wreath, because then they are lighter and are better suited for the wreath. Furthermore, just like in the last instructions, you can also use real sprinkles for the others instead of painting them on. If you would still prefer to paint them, you can color the eggs with nail polish. This gives the eggs an interesting metallic or glitter effect, depending on the nail polish you choose. So let your imagination run wild when you paint the Easter eggs in a funny way in the form of sweet baked goods and desserts and use the finished pieces of jewelry for whatever you wantDecorations for Easter.
