Concrete is a material that is quite easy to work with. Any shapes and figures can be created, making this material ideal for crafting. And even beginners can simply try out the ideas that we would like to present to you today. There are different variants for garden decorations made of concrete, for which you need forms in addition to concrete. You can put these together quickly using simple household items.
If you don't like the monotonous gray look of the concrete, you can finally color the decoration any color you like and create a colorful accent in the garden. You can modify all ideas as you wish by coming up with other shapes. They are purely for inspiration and should ultimately please you. Now start with the first oneIdealos!
This one is really pretty simpleMaking a flower pot. So if you don't want to try something complicated right away, but would rather get to know concrete as a material first, then this DIY decoration is exactly the right choice. When working with concrete, be sure to wear gloves to avoid concrete poisoning.
- Concrete
– Wooden stick or other object for mixing the concrete
- Water
– 2 buckets (size depending on how big the flower pot should be)
- Hand towel
– Support (film, tarpaulin, newspaper or cardboard)
A 19 liter bucket was used for the decoration shown. Fill this half with concrete. Then fill the bucket with enough water. In principle, you need a more watery consistency than is usual for concrete, but you don't want it to be too runny. The towel should be able to absorb the concrete well without dripping too much.
Now take an old towel. Now take the other bucket and place it upside down on a surface. You can now check whether the length of the towel is sufficient and lay it out. You can easily cut off any excess fabric. This is an important step in the preparation to achieve an aesthetic result later.
Once you have determined the size and length you want, you can dip the towel into the concrete. Make sure the towel is completely covered with concrete. Missed areas will be visible later. Then put the towel back on the other bucket and shape it the way you would like it and have thought about it beforehand.
If you notice that there are some free areas, you can quickly cover them while the concrete is still wet. So check your work quickly before you let it rest. Then let the concrete dry thoroughly for between one and two days. Finally, remove the bucket, fill the finished planter with potting soil and plant any flowers you like.
Do you also love the chirping of birds? Then attract these friendly guests to your garden by treating them to a little luxury with a refreshing bath. The birds will just love it! The decoration is not only extremely cheap, but is also done relatively quickly.
– 2 bags of concrete
– Container for mixing
– Measuring cup
– Cement trowel
– Molds (e.g. old bowls and buckets)
– Lubricant for the mold
– Leftover linen fabric
Instead of mixing all two bags at the same time for the concrete garden decorations, we recommend that you only use half a bag at a time. Mix this with the desired amount of water. Use a measuring cup so you know exactly how much water you have used. The other halves must have the same consistency.
You are welcome to use garden tools or another object instead of a concrete trowel. The main thing is that you can mix everything together well. Try to avoid air bubbles as much as possible. Make sure that the container for mixing is large enough so that nothing overflows when stirring. A base is still a good idea.
You will need a bag of concrete for the base. A bucket that is wider at the top than the bottom is particularly suitable. This creates a more stable support for the shell. Fill the bucket with the finished concrete mix and let it dry.
Now take two bowls of different sizes. Fill the mixture from half a bag of concrete into the larger one, then use your hands (don't forget gloves!) to form a well. Then expand it with the smaller bowl by pressing it in. You can easily remove excess concrete. However, if this is not enough for the shell part, you can add more. Place stones in the small bowl. The concrete can slip before it dries, especially if it is more liquid. The stones prevent this.
While the concrete is still dry, you can decorate the bowl. Add glitter or pebbles or use other elements. After a few hours you can remove the small bowl. But give it at least another day to dry properly. To avoid cracks, place a damp linen cloth over all visible areas. Place the bowl on the base, fill it with water and watch the birds bathe.
As you have already seen, you can easily make molds yourself. For example, build a box that you then use to make the seat of such a bench. You can determine the size yourself. Create a pleasant seating area in the shade with this practical decoration.
If the concrete is slightly dry and no longer melts, you can also write on it or even add pictures. You can warmly welcome your guests to the seating area or add flowers to the garden by painting flowers. Again, you can also color the concrete.
No complex mold is necessary for a flower box. Such flower boxes can wonderfully replace a railing or serve as a room divider in a specific area of the garden. Combine different plants and flowers to add texture and color to the concrete.
A concrete garden path doesn't have to look boring at all. All you need is the right shape. Here you can see an idea in which stepping stones were designed in a round shape. Gravel or other material can be spread around it.
Such a fountain looks complicated, but it can actually be imitated. The attractive oneConcrete garden decorationwith modern flair you can get by following the instructions in the following video. Again you have the opportunity to make changes. If you don't want a ball, use the cover photo as a template for a fountain, for example.
