How to water plants on vacation – houseplants

Once you have cut and cared for your magnificent specimens as described above, you can also consider the following options for watering the plants while on vacation. All the aids are easily accessible and are usually already present in the household, so you can even use them spontaneously. So here are some clever ideas for watering plants while on vacation:
Watering plants with plastic bottle
The one bottle method is very practical, easy to implement and really effective. A 1.5 liter bottle (or two of them in larger containers) will provide the plants with water for 14 to 21 days. If you would like to water your plants with a bottle while on vacation, prepare it as follows:
Unscrew the plastic lid and poke a hole through the center. The diameter is chosen depending on the water needs of the plant - but it should be at least four millimeters. If your plant needs a lot of water, simply make the hole larger. Fill the bottle with water, screw on the lid and insert the side with the lid directly into the potting soil. Kitchen paper as an aid
To keep your potted plants sufficiently moist while you are away for a long time, you can also water the plants while on vacation with kitchen roll. We don't mean the roll itself, but the paper. You will need about four sheets, but do not separate them from each other. Spread the strip in front of you, fold it in half lengthwise twice and roll the paper into a long roll.
Then wrap this around the plant, pressing the paper firmly onto the ground. Then fill any container with water, dip the other end of the paper roll into it and you're done! The paper now soaks up the water and gradually releases it into the bottom of the pot. The plant is cared for in this way for up to 12 days.
