Transparent, sealable freezer bags with labeling fields are best suited for freezing. You can mark the date and expiry date on it. They should also be grease and waterproof.
Proceed as follows: First unpack the minced meat, then put about 200 g into freezer bags. Gently squeeze the air out of the bag and then seal it. Then roll out the minced meat thinly with a rolling pin and put it in the freezer.
Pack pre-cooked foods in ziplock bags
If you want to prepare food for the whole week on Sunday, you can pre-cook the food and freeze it. Simply let the food cool, then portion it, put it in ziplock bags and seal it airtight. This means that the food takes up little space and you always have an overview.
Store sauces flat
Even thick sauces can be stored quickly and easily. Simply pour the cooled sauce into a ziplock bag, close it and portion it with a bread knife (see video above).
Freeze and portion vegetables to save space
Certain vegetables such as pumpkin, peppers and zucchini can be frozen fresh. Raw food must then be consumed for a maximum of 3 months.Other vegetablessuch as cauliflower, peas, carrots, broccoli and spinach must be blanched first. They will then last for 3 to 3.5 months. Alternatively, you can also put frozen food from the supermarket in freezer bags. In this case, the shelf life on the original packaging applies.
Frozen vegetables can be easily stacked or sorted into plastic boxes. It's best to portion the vegetables and put them in bags of the same size.
Vacuum seal vegetables
You can save freezer space and extend the shelf life of vegetables by first vacuum sealing them and then freezing them. This method is particularly suitable for peppers and carrots. Broccoli, corn, peas and cauliflower must be blanched before freezing. Allow them to cool before packing them airtight. However, raw mushrooms, garlic and onions should under no circumstances be vacuum sealed. They contain anaerobes that multiply quickly in the vacuum bag. In the end, the food rots much more quickly and even poses a health risk.
This is how you proceed with vacuum sealing: First wash, clean and chop the vegetables. Then put it in a foil bag and suck out the air with a foil sealer. Label the bags and store flat in the freezer. Vacuum-packed vegetables take up significantly less space than frozen products from the supermarket and are the perfect gap filler in the freezer.
Vacuum seal herbs
Fresh herbs can be easily vacuum-sealed as long as you don't chop them into small pieces. Simply put the herbs in small bags and freeze them whole. Vacuum-packed herbs are a space-saving alternative to the popular herb cubes.
Organize the freezer: store meat and fish systematically
It is best to store meat and fish in transparent containers. Label one side of the box so you can keep track. The rule of thumb applies: the higher the fat content, the shorter the shelf life. The frozen food with the shortest shelf life is therefore placed at the top or at the front.

Plastic boxes in which portioned frozen foods can be stored are suitable for this purpose. They are perfect for the freezer. Put labels on the plastic boxes so you can quickly keep track of them. The rule of thumb also applies in this case: keep food with a short shelf life at the front and always within easy reach. Sauces, minced meat andpre-cooked mealsportion.
