In most cases it is a combination of urine stone and limescale deposits. The brown stripes under the toilet rim are not only unsightly, but also unhygienic. But there is a home remedy that you can use to get this hard-to-reach area clean again. Use fresh lemons and clean the toilet in the evening.

We explain how it works.

  1. Always wear rubber gloves to protect your hands while cleaning.
  2. Cut 4-5 lemons in half, then gently squeeze 3 more lemons.
  3. First, rub the lemons onto the debris (doesn't work on debris underwater!)
  4. Then take toilet paper and soak it in the gentle. Then place the paper on the dirty areas or clip the pieces of paper directly into the edge and leave them for 2-3 hours (if possible).
  5. Take a toilet brush with an integrated edge cleaner and then brush off the dirt. Then carefully flush the toilet.

Clean brown deposits under water

Brown deposits that are under water can be removed quickly and easily with detergent. It is best to use liquid detergent that contains zeolites or another similar substance to soften water. Measure the detergent for 1/2 load of laundry and shake it directly into the water. Leave it on for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight. The next morning, brush the dirty area thoroughly with a toilet brush and rinse.

The tried and tested combination of vinegar and baking soda helps with deposits in the toilet drain. First shake about 120 ml of vinegar down the drain, then add 2 - 3 tablespoons of baking soda. For particularly stubborn or old dirt, you can add additional hot water to the drain. Wait about 2 hours and then rinse.

Get rid of stubborn limescale deposits

What also helps: A combination of 150 g baking soda, 1/4 cup citric acid, 1 teaspoon liquid soap, 30 drops lemon oil. Mix all ingredients in a bowl until a paste forms. Pour the mixture into a bath bomb mold and let it dry overnight. Store them in airtight containers and use them as needed.

Remove old urine stone: This combination of home remedies works

The old urine stone is particularly stubborn. This can be cleaned with baking soda and cola. You need 3 - 4 tablespoons of baking soda and a 1.5 liter bottle of Coca Cola. Add the baking soda first and then immediately shake the cola into the toilet bowl. A chemical reaction will occur. Leave the mixture to work for about an hour, then brush off the dirt.

Sometimes you need a little patience, because old urine stone and old lime stains can be very stubborn. In this case, only one thing helps: cleaning the toilet several times a week. You don't necessarily need to use a home remedy every time. It is sufficient if you remove the dirt in the toilet bowl with the toilet brush after each use. The toilet brush also needs to be cleaned regularly. Every evening, add some white vinegar to the brush and use it to remove dirt in the toilet. Then add a little more vinegar to the brush and leave it to work overnight. The next morning, rinse the brush and toilet bowl.
