Whether for the next barbecue evening or as a special Father's Day cake - our beer cake recipe is always a winner and tastes irresistibly good on every occasion!
Ingredients
Dough:
- 280 grams of wheat flour
- 250 Gramm Butter
- 370 grams of granulated sugar
- 70 grams of cocoa powder
- 250 ml Guinness beer or another black beer of your choice
- 2 Owner
- 150 Gramm Fresh cream
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1 pack of vanilla sugar
Glaze:
- 50 ml Guinness Bier
- 200 Gramm Butter
- 200 grams of dark chocolate
preparation
- Preheat the oven to 180 degrees and line a 23 cm diameter springform pan with baking paper. Alternatively, you can bake the beer cake in a baking tray.
- Place beer in a small saucepan and heat over medium heat for 1-2 minutes.
- Add butter to the pot and melt while stirring. Be careful not to let the mixture boil.
- Place beer mixture in a large bowl and add sugar and cocoa powder.
- Mix with a hand mixer for 2-3 minutes until smooth.
- Next, fold in the crème fraîche and eggs one at a time and mix well.
- Whisk together the vanilla sugar, wheat flour and baking powder in a separate bowl and gradually add to the beer mixture.
- Stir with a whisk to form a smooth dough and pour into the springform pan.
- Bake the dough for about 55-60 minutes, testing with a stick every now and then.
- Allow the beer cake to cool completely for an hour and carefully remove it from the springform pan.
- To make the beer glaze, melt the chocolate, butter and beer in a small saucepan over medium heat, stirring occasionally. Here too, you should make sure that the mixture does not boil.
- Let the icing cool slightly for about 10 minutes and spread it over the cake.
- For a nice salty kick, you can decorate the Guinness cake with pretzels.
