The strawberry rose looks particularly authentic when the green of the strawberries is still there. But of course you can also remove this beforehand. Then turn the strawberry and make another cut at the same height. Be careful not to accidentally cut the strawberry. Continue like this until you get back to the first cut. You should end up with a row of four or five “petals,” or incisions.
Then continue with the second row. Here the cuts should be offset from the first row, i.e. always between two of the lower ones, and also be narrower. Once you're around, come the third row, which should be offset from the second and have even smaller cuts. If the strawberry is larger or you have made the rows close together, a fourth row may also be necessary. Finally, all you have to do is cut the tip straight and your first rose is ready for the strawberry decoration. You can attach the roses with the “glues” mentioned above or you can stick them on toothpicks and then stick them into the cake.

For the first row, arrange the slices so that the tip is at the edge of the cake. The second row is slightly offset from the first so that they protrude slightly upwards. Work your way to the middle.
