We all know that chips aren't really healthy in most cases, but you can treat yourself to the treat every now and then. Pringles are without a doubt one of the most popular chips. If you are also a big fan of the chips, you might also like to make them yourself.With a simple pasta makerand the right Pringles recipe this is possible. But you can try it even without a pasta machine. All you have to do is roll out the dough as thinly as possible. We explain what ingredients you need if you want to make Pringles yourself and how to process the dough afterwards.
Make your own Pringles – recipe for seasoning yourself
You probably think that these delicious and special chips require special and complicated ingredients and steps and that you have to plan a lot of time if you want to make Pringles yourself. But you are wrong. Because the production is really very simple. So, how do you make Pringles? This is what you will now find out:
- 240 ml warm water
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 250 g mashed potatoes from the pack
- 135 g Travel flour
- 1 tbsp cornstarch
- 1/4 tsp baking powder
- Peanut or coconut oil
Make your own Pringles chips
If you now want to make the Pringles yourself, first dissolve the salt in the water, mix the dry ingredients and then add the salt water to the dry ingredients. Form a stiff dough and place it in the pasta machine. Alternatively, you can roll out the dough piece by piece by hand as thinly as possible, but this is more difficult than using a pasta maker. Run the dough through the machine 4-5 times on the lowest setting, folding the strips of dough after each time to give it an additional press. Then cut out circles or other shapes (Pringles are oval-shaped). Then you can fry the chips in a pan as desired or, as a healthier alternative, bake them in the oven.
For deep fryingHeat a large amount of oil in a pan (the chips should be able to float in it) and gradually add the chips to the fat for 10-15 seconds each. If youin the ovenIf you want to make the Pringles yourself, preheat it to 220 degrees, spread the chips on a baking tray lined with baking paper, spray them with baking spray or oil and bake them for 2-3 minutes on the top shelf.
You can then make any spices you want for the finished Pringles yourself. If you only like salt, salt them. For BBQ flavor use onesuitable spice mixture. In principle, there are no limits to what you can do. If you prefer the classic sour cream, you can try the recipe below.
Tipp: You can also prepare the dough in a food processor with real potatoes and the remaining ingredients. In this case, you need little or no additional water because the potatoes release enough liquid. If the dough becomes too dry, simply add small amounts of water little by little until you get the necessary consistency.
One of the most popular Pringles varieties is Sour Cream. If you would like to make this Pringles seasoning yourself, you can choose the following recipe:
- 1 tbsp dried leek
- 4 TL Buttermilchpulver
- 1 3-4 tsp kosher salt
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 2 tsp onion powder
- 1 tsp sugar
- 1 tsp dry nutritional yeast
Simply mix all the ingredients together and sprinkle the chips with the finished spice mix before or after baking (if you are frying them, only season afterwards) if you want to make Sour Cream Pringles yourself. You can then store the remaining spice mixture in an airtight container for up to 2 months.
Sour cream dip recipe
Alternatively, you can also taste it with adelicious dipget it and make it yourself in addition to the Pringles. If you would like to make your own sour cream Pringles dip, you will need the following ingredients:
- 70 g taste-neutral vegetable oil (e.g. rapeseed oil)
- 1 medium onion, finely diced (approx. 75 g)
- 1 pinch of salt
- 1/4 tsp sugar
- 240 g sour cream
Heat the oil in a pan and add the onions, sugar and salt. Sauté until the onions begin to brown (about 10 minutes). Drain the onions in a sieve, collecting the oil and storing it in the fridge to use for other purposes. Mix the onion with the sour cream and, if time permits, let the dip sit covered with foil for a few hours (up to 24 hours). After you make the Pringles yourself, you can also serve the dip.
