Decorate a beautiful metal ring in autumn
All elements can be replaced by any other and are intended for illustrative purposes. For example, if you don't like the sunflower, just use other flowers. You also have the choice betweenbeautiful dried flowers, fresh or artificial plants, depending on how natural and how durable you would like your decorative ring to be.
Materials you need for crafting
- Metal ring (you can also bend a wire ring yourself out of wire)
- Yarn or floral wire
- grasses
- Autumn leaves
- dried berries
- Flowers
- Scissors
- possibly hot glue
Before you decorate the metal ring: a few tips
- Home-bent wire is usually not that flat and can therefore be wrapped with ribbons before decorating to hide the unevenness.
- Beginners may find it a bit difficult to use tying yarn at first. Therefore, you could use floral wire instead, which is easier to work with.
- Pampasgrasis extremely attractive and very popular for making rings, among other things. But you can also choose other types of grass or grains such as wheat and oats.
- The leaves of maple or Virginia creeper are particularly intensely colored and are ideal for autumn wreaths of this type. Remember not to remove the stems so that you have something to tie them on.
- Ideally, you should choose flowers that are in season in autumn or that still make an attractive decoration even when dry. For example, sunflowers, chrysanthemums, heather, dry hydrangeas and even lantern flowers are ideal.
- If you want the autumn decoration to last a long time, you should decorate the metal ring with dried flowers.
- Be careful with fir green, as it can quickly damage the decorated metal ringseem Christmassy. It is therefore better to avoid fir branches.
Beautiful wreaths are also possible with embroidery frames! Here's the proof.
Instructions on how to make the decoration
In principle, you just have to arrange the elements one by one. The order depends on the size of the respective decorative element.
- Take a thin bundle of the grasses and tie around a third of the length along the ring. The majority of the fronds should stick out freely.
- Repeat this one more time, but in the opposite direction. The point from which the two bundles radiate to either side now becomes the focal point for the arrangements to come.
- Do the same with the next larger elements. In our case these are the colorful leaves.
- Complete the design of the two lengths with the berries.
- Finally, design the middle. Again, depending on what you chose as an accent, either use yarn or hot glue.
- The arrangement not only looks more harmonious with a center point, but the interfaces of the previous decorative elements are also hidden in this way. You can also achieve this by simply wrapping yarn or a nice ribbon around the area several times.
