Let yourself be enchanted again by the delicate colors and interesting shapes of the succulents and create a succulent wall using ordinary Euro pallets. You probably already know that these wooden panels are perfect for planting herbs and flowers. But the sun-loving Sedum, Sempervivum and Co. are no exception.
How exactly can you plant pallets with succulents? It's really not a complicated thing and it's extremely cheap. Use the arrangement to stand or attach it to a free wall to create an interesting succulent wall.
Prepare the Euro pallet
Before you can plant your pallets with succulents, you should prepare the former. The whole thing starts with a coat of paint if you want to freshen up the look of the wood.
- Sand the surfaces. You can use a sander or simple sandpaper for this. You can also smooth any sharp edges or corners in this step.
- Paint the wood with a wood oil or varnish in any color and allow everything to dry thoroughly. If necessary, apply a second coat if the first one is not opaque enough.
- Use the gaps between the front and back boards for planting. So that you can add soil there, loosely stretch fleece, coconut mats or burlap inside. Attach them with a wooden stapler.
- Pond liner is also suitable. To avoid waterlogging, you should poke a series of small holes in the film after hanging it so that the excess water can drain away. Don't overdo it with the holes, otherwise the film could eventually tear due to the weight of the earth.
- Add potting soil to the bags you received and spread out your succulents.
- Keep the soil moist but not wet over the next few weeks to allow the plants to grow.
- You can display the succulent wall standing up or on onefree wallhang.
Create your own designs
One of the many advantages of pallets is that you can take them apart and reassemble them as you wish. For example, you can cut the boards in half and nail or screw them back in place, offset from each other, to create smaller boxes offset from each other (see picture above).
Vary the succulents
The variety of colors in the different types of succulents alone makes a great impression when you combine them together in an arrangement. But also remember somehanging speciesto add that you let hang from the boards. This will make your succulent wall look even more interesting, natural and effective.
Create a succulent wall with hanging pots
Is the option where you plant the pallets with succulents too complicated for you? Then there is another possibility,to create a plant wall: Stand or hang the Euro pallet after rearranging it to your liking. Plant hanging pots with your chosen plants and simply hang them on the boards. The gaps between them are perfect for this.
Which succulents are best?
In principle, many people get by with the space that the palette offers. Which one is best suited for you depends on the location you will offer the plants and also whether the arrangement will also overwinter outside. You should also only choose types of succulents that do not grow too long. Also avoid species that offer deep roots, as there may not be enough space for them in the Euro pallet.
