Make your own gnomes out of fir branches – tips for pointed hats

The pointed hat can be made from different materials. In the example you will be oneInstructions with mosspreserved, but felt or any other material can also be used for this purpose. This depends entirely on the effect you want to achieve. The gnome will be completely natural if you use moss, while you can add a splash of color and create a more colorful decoration with felt.

Instructions and materials

  • Fir branches
  • Moos
  • green floral wire
  • red Christmas ball
  • Sheep's wool, faux fur, cotton wool or silvery periwinkle for the beard
  • Plastic flower pot
  • wooden stick
  • Piece of wood with a drilled hole (big enough for the stick)

Would you like this one?DIY WichtelTo make one from pine branches, first insert the stick through the pot. To do this, you will need to cut or drill a hole in the center of the floor. Slide the stick through the hole and insert it into the pre-drilled piece of wood. Then gradually distribute the fir branches upside down around the wooden stick and tie them tightly with floral wire. Leave about a third of the wooden stick exposed.

Then tie the moss in the same way. Cover about a third of the pine green and wrap the moss around the pine green and the stick in a spiral towards the tip. Then tie the wire directly below the mossChristmas balls for Christmas treestight to get a nose.

Then take the wool, thread it onto the wire (just pierce the wire through the pieces of wool) and tie the resulting beard below the nose. And that's about it.

Alternative variants to make yourself

  • If you prefer the hat instead of mossUse feltIf you want it or another fabric, simply form a cone out of a piece of any size, glue the ends together and place it on the stick. Or how about a ready-made Santa Claus hat?
  • Instead of a wooden stick and a flower pot, you can also use a trellis for tomatoes, which you can either buy ready-made in a cone shape or tie the protruding sticks together at the top. You can then “dress” the vine in exactly the same way and use fir branches and other twigs for the gnomes, as described in the instructions above.
  • A red nose is particularly nice, but so are potatoes, pompoms orPine cones can be used for craftsbe used. Maybe you can think of something else.
  • Feel free to add additional accessories, such as gloves.

Mini gnome – instructions

  • artificial or real fir branches
  • felt
  • white pompoms for the nose
  • Bell
  • Hot glue
  • optional: yarn and smaller pompoms for decoration

This version in mini format is also very cute and easy to make. You are a great oneAlternative to the classic Christmas tree. In the example 4 small branches were used. But you are welcome to take more if you want. Just try what you like better. Cut a square out of the felt and place the branches on top (the ends in the middle of the square).

Fold one of the two side corners over the branches and glue it in place. Repeat with the opposite corner and secure this too with the hot glue. Now glue the white pompom where the nose should be and then the bell on the tip of the hat. Now, if you want, you can decorate the edge of the hat with a piece of yarn and add other accessories such as smaller pompoms.
