The buildings in Champoton in southeastern Mexico, which were previously used for livestock breeding and textile production, have now been converted by architects from AS Arquitectura and R79 Arquitectura. The result is Hacienda “Niop”. Where agricultural workers and business people once worked hard, today the Mexican upper class can find a retreat and enjoy the nostalgic flair. In a distinctive and truly spectacular way, the architects have combined old and new and transformed the former farm into a weekend retreat with private retreats, a ballroom and a restaurant. The ruins with their rough and pigmented walls look harmonious with modern design solutions that have recently been added and emphasize even more the authentic character of the buildings.
Combining old and new in a spectacular way: a former farm becomes a fantastic hacienda
The romantic hacienda consists of several individual buildings that are designed as separate retreats for more privacy. The charming cottages stand as independent constructions and are reminiscent of the historical past with their pigmented exterior walls. The guests of the hotel have their owncovered terracewith a pool and have direct access to the idyllic garden, which invites you to escape from everyday urban life. The complex is also perfect for weddings and other family celebrations.
Architecture & Design: Mixing styles
As you explore the hacienda, you will discover exotic vegetation and charming water features that are just as...to the romantic conceptbelong. The staging of the landscape corresponds completely to the theme of “old and new”. As little as possible changed the inventory. The old chapel and the antique wind turbine also contribute to the distinctive character of the hacienda. Modern additions create targeted contrasts and particularly attractively emphasize the original charm of the building. The complex lighting concept gives the hacienda that certain something and conjures up an elegant touch in every season.
Farming "Niop" in Mexico
If old and new are now viewed philosophically, they should not compete, but should be presented in terms of their value, complement each other and ultimately create a new whole. With this in mind, the architects redesigned this dreamy hacienda.
