Many popular spring flowers are poisonous.

Early bloomers can already be seen in the first front gardens. But be careful! The flowering plants can be quite dangerous.

Finally it will (hopefully) spring and the first sunny and warm days are imminent. If you have spent a lot of time outside, you can already see it on the side of the road. We are talking about early bloomers.

Unfortunately, the pretty flowers have a disadvantage. Many early bloomers are poisonous or parts of it. We tell you which spring flowers are poisonous and what you or your children and pets should let your fingers or paws. You will definitely be surprised by some.

These spring flowers contain toxins

All parts of the plant are poisonous. Fortunately, only low. After consumption, abdominal pain, diarrhea and vomiting can occur.

Tulip

All parts of the tulip are poisonous for humans and animals. Even though the spring flowers can be found in almost every household as a decoration.

With longer skin contact, tulips can cause eczema, itching, swelling and redness. Usually the symptoms disappear quickly. In particularly bad cases and large quantities, even a respiratory arrest.

Hyazinthen

Hyazinths are only slightly poisonous for humans. Nevertheless, nausea and abdominal cramps can occur. In the case of skin contact with the onion, occasionally allergic skin reactions.

Dogs and cats, on the other hand, react much more violently to the consumption of the early bloomers. You can show severe symptoms of poisoning. If you find out that your pet has eaten hyacinths, you should go to a veterinarian.

Easter bells

With Easter bells or daffodils, all parts of the plant are generally poisonous, but especially the onion. Possible consequences after consumption are chokes, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain and sweats. There were even incidents of paralysis with subsequent collapse and cardiac arrhythmias after large quantities were recorded.

Crocuses

Crocuses are slightly poisonous. The breeding forms that are sold are even considered harmless.

lily of the valley

The lily of the valley was even voted “poisonous plant of the year” in 2014 and is therefore considered a toxic early bloomer. All parts of the flower are toxic, but above all the flowers, the seeds and the leaves.
