Make the tomato fertilizer out of old bread yourself

For the tomato fertilizer you only need two simple ingredients that you are guaranteed to have at home and a lockable bucket:

  • Old bread
  • Bucket with lid
  • Water

This is how it works:

For example, collect a bakery bag full of bread remains and pour it into a bucket. Pour the old -fashioned bread in the bucket with water and close it with a lid. Then weigh the lid with a stone.

The whole thing has to be in a warm place for four weeks. During this time there is fermentation. After a month, the homemade tomato fertilizer from old bread is ready and ready for use.

Tomato expert Mattias Nemeth recommends: "I now either use the homemade fertilizer at the beginning of the garden season either undiluted as a soil improver on beds or I use it slightly diluted as a tomato or paprika fertilizer."

In the end, the professional has another tip ready, which in summer and autumn helps you to have a rich tomato harvest: "I also give the tomato plants additional calcium fertilizers because calcium is lost in fermentation."
