Make classic dragons with popsicle sticks
Before all the modern designs hit the market, kites were square in shape. The so-called kite square is perfect for making kites and is immediately recognizable. That's why the models in our instructions also consist of this classic shape. You can use the first idea among otherscraft with popsicle sticks, which can be found in every craft store.
- ice styles
- Paper in any color
- Crepe paper
- Acrylic paints and brushes
- Glue
- Googly eyes
- black felt-tip pen
If you want to make a dragon like this out of paper, start by painting the popsicle sticks in any color you like. You need four pieces per dragon. Once the paints are dry, you can glue them together like a kite shape. You then use this shape as a template to transfer it onto the paper. Cut out the shape and glue the wooden structure onto it. Then glue on the googly eyes and draw a mouth. From the crepe paperthen cut out strips and glue several of them to the back of the bottom tip of the kite. If you want, you can glue a loop of string to the top for hanging.
Make kites out of paper
This easy-to-make dragon has a certain 3D look, which sounds complicated. But you'll notice right away that it really issimple craft ideaacts. So if you want to make a kite with children, this idea is just as wonderful. Here's what you need:
- Papier
- thin wooden sticks or straws
- cord
- Crepe paper or fabric
- tape
Make an autumn kite – instructions:
Start by folding the top two corners of the paper inwards (like a paper airplane, about a third of the way up). Then, tape one of the wooden sticks to the paper vertically from the top tip after cutting it to the appropriate size. Then cut the horizontal rod and glue it in place. At the point where the two sticks cross, tie them together with the string. You will also receive the steering cord at the same time. Now fold the bottom two corners inwards and secure these with adhesive tape. Now you can add a ribbon of crepe paperor fabricAttach it and the dragon is ready.
Make small dragons for a greeting card
Whether for a birthday in autumn, for an autumn party without a special occasion or just as an autumn greeting - onehomemade greeting cardwith small paper kites looks really nice and is guaranteed to make the recipient smile. And the best thing about this idea is that it is extremely easy to implement. Would you like to make a kite in kindergarten or primary school or are you looking for simple instructions for an ordinary craft afternoon? Then you can make kites using the following instructions:
- Template for a kite square
- colorful paper
- Pencil
- Scissors
- Glue
- Yarn
This is how you can make small dragons:
Print and cut out a small template from white paper (you can also draw the shape yourself) and then trace that shapeany colored paper. You have to make or cut out five such dragons for each dragon motif. Then fold each kite lengthwise. Apply glue to the outside of these folds and glue the five dragons together at these same folds. You will receive a great 3D dragon that you can now stick on a piece of paper or a card.
Then cut out small triangles from the colored paper, which will later represent the loops on the dragon's tail. Glue a piece of string as a kite tail to the bottom tip of the kite and onto the paper and then also the triangles as shown in the instructions. Now all you need is a few clouds of white paper and you're done!
Make your own window pictures
You can make pretty dragons out of tissue or parchment papercraft for windows, which then shine in bright colors due to the light. This is a wonderful way to decorate the windows in the children's room. You will need these simple materials if you make dragons as a window picture:
- Scissors
- Lineal
- Pencil
- black craft paper
- colored tissue or parchment paper
- transparent, self-adhesive film
- colored paper
- Yarn
- Hot glue
Make kites without a template – instructions:
You can make the decorative dragonas a window picturewith a template, but with the following instructions, it also works without: First you need the framework for the kite. To do this, take a sheet of black paper and fold it in half lengthwise. On the open side, measure 10 cm from the top edge, mark the point and draw a diagonal line from there to the top corner (on the side of the fold). Then draw another diagonal line from the starting point down to the fold. Within these lines, draw the same lines again at a distance of about 2.5 cm.
Now cut out the base for the window pictures by cutting along the lines. You get the typical dragon shape. Now cut a piece of self-adhesive film that this base will fit on and stick it on top. Take the tissue paper and cut it into small pieces. You can choose the colors according to your taste. A colorful design looks particularly pretty. Now the children can stick these pieces onto the free areas (on the foil). Finally, attach a piece of string or yarn, cut out triangles from the colored paper and use them to create the loops for the kite tail by gluing them to the string.
Make kites for children with window and watercolor paints
You can use window colors not only on foil, but also on plain paper. With this craft idea, the outlines and patterns for the dragons are painted, which are then designed as desired using watercolors. Alternatively, black glue can also be used. The perfect idea for a rainy day when you have kitescrafting in the fallwant.
- black window colororblack craft glue
- Watercolors and brushesorWatercolor pencils
- white paper
- cord
- tape
- Glue
Draw a kite shape on white paper and create any pattern in it. You can also print out a template to make a kite and then design it with patterns to make the task easier. Then draw the loops from two triangles facing each other. Then trace the same lines with window paint or black glue. Once everything is dry (it's best to let the glue dry overnight), you can make the kitewith watercolorsor color with watercolor pencils. Once the colors have dried, you can cut out the kite and the bows, glue a piece of string to the bottom corner of the kite and decorate it with the bows.
Make your own kites in a different way in the shape of a bird
You have already seen how to make a kite for the window or to hang on the wall or refrigerator in the instructions above. But how about having one of these instead of the classic stunt kite shape?make bird? For example, you can make a kite at primary school, but the idea is also suitable for a craft afternoon at home. This is how it works:
- A4 size paper
- Stapler
- cord
- Scissors
- punch
- Glue
- black felt-tip pen
If you would like to make this kite yourself, start by folding a piece of paper in half. Then fold the two sides outwards to form a fold as shown in the instructions and staple the corners to the fold slightly below the top edge. The paper should only be curved and notbe folded. This way you will get the bird's wings. Then cut out a red triangle and glue it to the fold between the two layers to make a beak. Now cut out the tail from another piece of paper. This can be wavy like in the example, but also jagged or have another shape. Now draw eyes, pierce the bird's stomach and tie a piece of string there. Complete!
DIY with a bread bag
You can also make a dragon in an atypical shape using these craft instructions. One is usedPaper bread bag, which you can design as you wish. Whether you use washi tape or paints like in the example or other materials is up to you. And the best part? You can even hang the kite outside on a tree (or somewhere else) and watch it fly when the wind blows.
- Bread bag
- Materials for designing (e.g. washi tape, acrylic paints, watercolors, rhinestones, beads, etc.)
- cord
- Popsicle stick (alternatively, a twig works)
- Streamers, ribbons or strips of crepe paper
- tape
- Scissors
You'll be amazed at how easy this craft idea is! First, design the paper bag according to your ideas (or those of your children). Then cut a small hole in the middle of the bottom of the bag. Tie a piece of string (approx. 45 to 60 cm) to the popsicle stick or a branch and thread the other end through the hole. The popsicle stick will now prevent the string from being pulled all the way through the hole when the kite flies. Now stick a few ribbons as kite tails on one of the two edges of the bag and you can let the kite fly.
