And pinning is not only great fun, it will fill you with pride. Let's just get started!

The plants and flowers used in the instructions are only intended as suggestions and can be replaced with other variants if you have ideas that are more in line with your wishes. Furthermore, you don't necessarily have to use real plants. Artificial materials are very suitable for a arrangement that lasts a particularly long time and can also be used next year.

The first arrangement combines two seasons in color: autumn and winter. For this reason, the example is perfect for the transition phase between the two seasons. However, if you would like to go to theautumnal accentForego and value completely winter arrangements for outdoors, simply replace the red branches with ones with silver-gray leaves. The following plants and materials were used in the example:

  • Bucket made of winterproof material
  • Floral foam
  • Bark or other filling material
  • various evergreen branches (in the example spruce and blue-green Arizona cypress)
  • Boxwood branches with leaves
  • Thujazweig
  • Citrus fruits (e.g. lemons and tangerines)
  • Pine cones
  • bare branches and those with red leaves (e.g. oaks and beeches retain their leaves even when they are dry)
  • Blumendraht
  • Shish kebab skewers or flower sticks

Winter arrangementsfor outdoors like this one look complicated, but are quick and easy to make: fill a layer of bark or other material into the bucket. This way you reduce the amount of floral foam. Then spread the floral foam over it up to the edge of the pot or a little deeper after you have cut it into suitable pieces. Make sure that the floral foam sits firmly and does not move so that the plants have a stable base.

Insert the bare and red branches into the center of the floral foam. Stick them around and so that they hang over the edge of the potevergreen branches. Feel free to use ones in different shades. Put a few boxwood branches and thuja branches between these two levels as a transition. Wrap floral wire around the base of the pine cones, twisting the ends and tucking them into the floral foam here and there through the evergreen branches.

Now stick skewers into a few lemons and tangerines and distribute them here and there in the arrangement and at different heights. The arrangement should last a long time as it is. You can also moisten the floral foam regularly, but you don't have to. Only the fruits perish quickly and have to be replaced regularly. You can also use artificial fruits instead or during Christmas seasonals AdventsdekoUse Christmas tree balls for winter arrangements outside.

Arrangement as a Christmas decoration for hanging outside

Would you rather have a hanging Christmas arrangement instead of a standing one? How about this idea? What is particularly striking isthe ornamental cabbage, which was chosen for the center of the arrangement. It gives the winter arrangement an interesting accent that perfectly complements the Christmas balls and evergreens. It is best to immerse the plants in water for a few hours before staking. This means you don't need to water them for the first few days. HangingChristmas arrangementsFor example, you can make something like this for outside:

  • Hanging basket with a diameter of approx. 35 cm made of coconut fibers
  • Ornamental cabbage in a 12 cm pot
  • Skimmie in a 10cm pot
  • white-green scented flower in a 12 cm vase
  • Pine cones
  • evergreen branches of different colors
  • red plastic Christmas balls
  • Floral wire and plant stakes
  • plastic wrap
  • Floral foam
  • Filling material (e.g. floral foam or paper)

Line the basket with foil to protect it from moisture when watering the arrangement. Make sure that the foil ends slightly below the edge so that it is not visible later. First, place the ornamental cabbage and pot in the basket. Make sure it is tilted slightly forward (45°) so that it is visible. You can achieve this with the help of the listed filling material.

Place the skimmie and the scented flower behind the cabbage. Distribute floral foam between these three pots so that nothing wobbles. Now you can distribute the evergreen branches around the pots. Then tie floral wire around the bottom of the pine cones, twisting the ends and tucking them into the arrangement here and there. Now insert a few sticks into the arrangement and hang Christmas tree balls from them. If necessary, you can fix it with wire. It is best to use plastic balls, as glass balls can break if the basket falls.
