Make fall pumpkins out of cones
Cones are a classic material in most fall projects. They are very robust and are suitable for many creative craft ideas. Whether as decoration or just asan exciting activity, you can make these pretty cone pumpkins with children. It's really easy and the result is really cool.
What you need:
- Cones
- small sticks/twigs
- Rip wire
- Orange and green acrylic paint
- Paint brush
- Wire cutters
Craft instructions:
- Gather the materials and have the child paint the cones orange.
- Break the branches into 7-8 cm long pieces and paint them green.
- Use wire cutters to cut 10 cm long pieces of vine wire. Show the child how to wrap the wire around their finger, a stick, or a pencil to make it curl. Paint these pieces green too.
- When all parts are already dry, insert a branch into each cone for the pumpkin stem.
- Add the curled wire to create the vine. Attach it with some hot glue if necessary.

Making leaf crowns with children in autumn
In autumn the leaves have so many beautiful colors - from green to yellow to brown and even red. You can use the autumn leaves creatively and, for example, make these pretty leaf crowns with the little ones. It's really easy and quick.
Materials required:
- Autumn leaves
- Brown paper bags, 20 cm wide
- black and white marker
- wide double-sided tape
- Scissors
Directions:
- First, cut the paper bag into three strips (approx. 10 x 20 cm) and fit them to your child's head. If necessary, cut them open and tape the ends together for a better fit.
For classic leaf crown:
- Stick the tape on the top third from all sides. Remove the protective film and stick the collected autumn leaves to create a beautiful pattern.
For animal crown:
When arranged correctly, autumn leaves remind us of the characteristics of some animals. So you can use them to make animal crowns. To do this you should do the following:
- Find two leaves that look almost identical and stick them to the top of the paper crown using double-sided tape.
- Think of an animal that would use the leaves as ears or another feature and draw its other features with the markers. In the example above you can see a rabbit, an owl and a bear.

Autumn mosaic with legumes
Have you ever made a mosaic with the children? It's a lot of fun and at the same time a great exercise for fine motor skills. And to make the project even more interesting and creative, you can use various legumes instead of stones. You can then turn the finished figures into pretty magnets for autumn decorations or as a gift. This is how it works:
First collect the materials:
- various legumes, e.g. B. red, yellow and green lentils, black and brown beans
- Craft glue
- Cardboard (recycled is also possible)
- Scissors
- Pencil
- Acrylic paint
- Paint brush

Step-by-step instructions:
- Use a pencil to draw autumnal shapes by hand or using a template. Suitable ideas include acorns, pumpkins, pears, apples and leaves in various shapes. Cut them out.
- Have the children paint each motif in the colors of the legumes used in the mosaic.
- Apply craft glue to the shapes and start the mosaic. Use red lentils for the squash, green for the stems and leaves, yellow for leaves, and light and dark beans for acorns and leaves. The project takes some time, but it promotes concentration and helps you relax.
- Allow the glue to dry completely.

Creative crafts with leaves: DIY suncatchers
When the sun shines in autumn, it can create beautiful accents in the autumn foliage. The next craft project is perfect for elementary school children. Take a look at how you can make creative suncatchers with autumn leaves.
This is needed:
- Embroidery frame
- Tracing paper or wax paper
- Autumn leaves
- Scissors
