Make your own pipe cleaner tulips
You make these easy tulips out of pipe cleaners and they are the most beautiful things you could ever make out of pipe cleaners!
What you need:
5 red pipe cleaners
1 green pipe cleaner
Scissors
Lineal
Instructions for crafting:
- Takefor this craft4 of the red pipe cleaners and cut them into three pieces (about 10cm long). Take each of the pieces and fold them in half. Then lay them side by side so that all the end pieces are on top and all the folds are on the bottom.
- Place the green pipe cleaner somewhere in the middle so that it lines up with the top ends: Then fold all the pieces together as best you can, keeping the green pipe cleaner in the middle.
- Take the remaining red pipe cleaner and starting about 3/4 inch from the end, wrap it tightly around the bundle.
- Continue wrapping the red pipe cleaner around the bouquet so that it neatly covers the tips and holds them in place.
- Take the pipe cleaner pieces and bend them up. Continue bending all pieces upward to form the petals. Press the pieces together firmly to form the tulip bud.
- Then bend each “petal” slightly inward. You can shape the petals so that the tulip is a closed bud, or a more open tulip flower, whichever you like best. Making tulips is so easy!
Make a bouquet of paper tulips
This project can be done by children ages 9 and up (and adults too, of course) who want to make a pretty window sill decoration during the spring season.
For this project you will need:
Craft paper in all sorts of tulip colors plus green for the leaves
wooden skewers
green acrylic paint
Paint brush
Hot glue gun
Craft glue
green felt-tip pen
Foam pad or the back of a used mouse pad
the flat side of a dull knife
DIY instructions:
- Print out the template and transfer it to a piece of sturdy cardboard, such as a cardboard box. B. a cereal box. Crease the line in the middle of the tulip template so it can be folded in half.
- Cut out 4 tulips and 1 leaf for each tulip, that you want to make.
- You will need a soft mat and a pen. If you don't have these, replace the soft mat with the back of a mouse pad, the pen with the flat side of a dull kitchen knife.
- Take the folded tulip template and use it with the pen to fold the center of each cut tulip.
- Use a bone folder to make the edge flat and crisp.
- Glue two tulip sides together. Then glue the other two tulip halves together in the same way. If the edges don't line up perfectly, that's not a problem. Simply cut them off with scissors if necessary.
- Paint the skewers green and let them dry.
- Then glue the two halves together, with one end of the skewer sandwiched about 1-2 centimeters between the halves. Use paper clips to hold everything together until the glue dries if necessary.
- Then use the green felt-tip pen to draw the curve of the leaf. Now you can glue a leaf onto the skewer.
- Repeat these steps for as many tulips as you want. The more, the merrier!
Making tulips for windows
You can make this craft with the kids to delight the whole family this spring! And the flowers look really pretty on a classroom window, so they're perfect for school children.
Get materials:
Flower template
Stem stencil
Grass stencil (optional)
construction paper
Colored pencils
Colored pencils sharpener
Scissors
Old towel
Wax paper, about one 12x12 sheet per flower.
iron
How to make the craft:
- Copy the flower and stem template onto the appropriate colored construction paper. Fold the template in half and cut it in the middle (the template is not symmetrical, so you can't leave it folded and cut it out and then unfold it again).
- Unfoldthe template, insert scissors into the cut and cut out the flower from the inside.
- Cut out the stem and glue it to the flower.
- Sharpen crayons to get a good amount of snippets. You can use different colors. Lay down a towel and place the wax paper on top. Shake the shreds onto the wax paper and spread them there.
- Fold the wax paper over itself, completely covering the chips and leaving a few inches between the edges to prevent the melted chalk from spilling out.
- Cover the folded wax paper with the towel. Use an old towel to prevent the chips from spilling out and getting on the towel. Hold the iron over each area for a few seconds. It seems like nothing is happening for a while and then everything melts all at once, so watch out. The iron should be set to a medium to low setting.
- Position the cut flower over the part of the melted chalk that you like best. Glue them in place. Trim the excess wax paper around the construction paper.
