This rustic oneseemingly wicker basketserves as a hanging basket and a mini herb garden at the same time. The garden pansies and marigolds shine in beautiful yellow tones and create a great contrast to the herb green. Between the flowers you can still see baby kale Redbor, which adds purple splashes of color. The selected herbs in this basket are coriander (along the handle), lemon thyme (bottom left), and Italian oregano (bottom right). Be aware that hanging baskets can be very heavy when filled with traditional potting soil. It is therefore advisable to fill the space below with empty plastic bottles and only then add potting soil.

Colorful autumn plantings

This planting combines height, texture and color in an amazing arrangement. You need a large ceramic planter, 40 centimeters in diameter, that has good drainage. Fill the bucket with potting soil. Red kale and ornamental kale are robust and colorful varieties that harmonize perfectly with the red and yellow marigolds. Fountain grass adds height to the arrangement while ivy is draped over the pot.

Purple and green for a good mood

Shades of purple and green come together in this beautiful arrangement. The white mini pumpkins and sturdy ornamental and kale varieties make this look stunning. Instead of a bucket, an old dough bowl was used in this example. To prevent the wood from being damaged by potting soil and water, it should first be lined with plastic film.

Place the plants with their pots directly in the bowl. Start with the purple plants first - the pansies, the red leaf mustard 'Red Giant', thatPurpurglöckchen Heuchera'Sugar Plum' and the ornamental cabbage. Ceramic containers

These white ceramic containers have a seaside vibe that rather than sustains their bloom. The red bromeliads meet the colorful leaves of crotons and the bizarre structure of the dwarf pitchers (cephalotus). Pennigwort with hanging growth provides a light green accent against the white pots. While bromeliads and crotons are not frost hardy, dwarf pitchers are considered hardy perennials.

Use structural plants

The secret here lies in the beautiful structural plants. The concrete pots impress with a deliberately worn look. The neutral tones match the house facade and allow the colors of the plants to shine. A colorful palm lily (Yucca flamentosa) provides a beautiful backdrop for the other perennials. The bluish-purple echeverias contrast beautifully with the yellow tones of the palm lilies and the green of the sedum plants. A bright red Kalanchoe completes the look. This low-maintenance planting lasts until the first frost because the echeverias and kalanchoes have to be overwintered indoors.

Typical autumn colors

Purple, yellow and orange are a great color combination for fall. The Mexican shrub sage (Salvia leucantha) is a real eye-catcher. The long flower stalks are covered with many purple-violet flowers that can be seen from July to the end of October. The location should be very bright to sunny. A beautiful companion for this heat-loving fragrant plant is the sulfur cosmos, which also comes from sunny Mexico.
