Use purple deadnettle as a lawn replacement
Nettles are low-growing, flowering plants that enjoy sunlight and, depending on the variety, have colorful leaves and flowers in purple, white, pink or blue-green. The deadnettle is robust, adapts quickly and can also tolerate stony or sandy soil. The plant's special features include its flowers and stems. With the square stems and two-part labiate flowers, the dead nettles simply cannot be confused. The flowering period is between April and June and the leaves remain green all year round.
Deadnettle is the best option for your shade or partial shade areas, but can be grown in the sun if you water the plant often. You can also transplant the dead nettle in different locations. If the plant is planted in the right location, the maintenance required is low. Adding compost or fertilizer every now and then is sufficient. If some shoots have grown too high, they can be cut back in autumn.
