Bake cauliflower pie with curry – recipe for the dough
The special thing about the pie is that the dish has a dough coating. So you also need it for your cauliflower piemit Currya suitable dough recipe. This is how easy it is to get the dough for the pie:
For a baking pan with a diameter of around 32 cm:
- 400 g Flour
- 220g very cold butter
- 1 tsp vinegar
- Zucker
- Salt
- cling film
First mix the dry ingredients. Cut the cold butter into cubes and briefly knead it into the dry ingredients using a hand mixer to create a coarsely crumbly mass. You have prepared the dough – so far so good. But what could you fill it with if you wanted to make a curried cauliflower pie? You can do it bothLeave it to the cauliflower, as well as vary it with potatoes or add chickpeas. Here are a few recipe ideas:
Cheese cauliflower with curry and coconut milk
- 700 g cauliflower, washed and chopped into florets
- 150 g Emmental cheese, diced
- 4 spoons of grated pecorino or parmesan
- 2 tsp ground, mild curry
- 1 bunch of fresh parsley
- 150 ml coconut milk
- 3 egg yolks
- 1 teaspoon paprika powder
- half of the dough from the recipe above (or filo dough)
Heat salted water in a pot and cook the cauliflower florets for 10 minutes (they should be a little softer but not completely cooked). Prepare the base in the mold (it should overhang generously). Bring the coconut milk to the boil in a saucepan and then add the Emmental cheese. Stir until completely melted. Sift in the curry, stirring continuously to avoid lumps. Remove the milk from the heat again and stir in 2 egg yolks.
Preheat the oven to 180 degrees. Drain the cauliflower and mix it with the milk mixture in a bowl. Now add the parsley and spread the mixture into the prepared form with the base. Spread the other cheese over it and fold the overhanging edge of the dough inwards. Brush with the third egg yolk and sprinkle everything with the paprika powder. Bake the cauliflower pie with curry and cheese until golden brown, about 25 minutes.
With potatoes or chickpeas
You can have the cauliflower curry withPrepare potatoes. To do this, simply reduce the amount of cauliflower and add potatoes instead. You can also cook these in advance, ideally together with the cauliflower. After you have mixed these ingredients with the cheese sauce as described above, pour the mixture into the mold with dough and bake the delicious dish. Without coconut milk
You don't have coconut milk at home right now and are wondering if you cansubstitute for the recipecould? Yes, and even with different products, so you have free choice! For example, you can instead:
- Use cream or even soy or oat cream, the latter of which tastes slightly sweet and is therefore most similar to coconut milk.
- AlsoGreek yogurthas just the right consistency, but is less sweet. But you can fix this by adding a little honey, agave syrup or something else to sweeten (if desired).
